I am thankful for the kindness of strangers.
Last Tuesday, Ward and I went with friends to see a John Prine tribute concert at Wolf Trap. Wolf Trap is a National Park for the Performing Arts in Virginia. The stage is surrounded by open-air covered seating and lawn seating, and is a magical place to watch a concert (if the weather cooperates, which it did).
When we made our way back to our car, we found the battery was dead. After a bit of asking around, we found someone with jumper cables and someone else who gave our car a jump. Soon, we were finding our way home.
So, for the kindness of strangers who helped us start our car, I am thankful.

I love stories like this. A little kindness from a stranger will be remembered for a long time.
ReplyDeleteWe keep a tire inflator/battery jumper in our vehicles. They have to be recharged periodically, but they are helpful in minor emergencies and bring peace of mind. I used mine once to help someone jump their battery. They were parked in an awkward position for using traditional jumper cables, but the tool didn't require a vehicle to be parked next to the car needing a jump, so it was an added benefit to have them. I highly recommend getting one.
That's a good idea. We have jumper cables in our older car, but hadn't outfitted our new car. We were very surprised that the battery was dead because in these new cars it seems like everything is automatically turned off if left on for very long. We're still not sure what caused the battery drain, but the car has been working without hesitation every since.
DeleteThat's frustrating, and I would find it unnerving.
DeleteI am glad that someone was able to give you a jump start. I have always called the Auto Club when I needed a jump start or any such assistance. :)
ReplyDeleteThe traffic was so crowded with 7000 people leaving the concert, it would have taken AAA forever to get there. I'm happy that we found the kind souls we did to help us. I've used AAA other times for various things in more "normal" circumstances.
DeleteThis is so sweet :) a little bit goes a long way, so glad you were able to get a boost via battery and emotionally!
ReplyDeleteIt was a good experience. Besides the help, everyone was friendly and in a good mood.
DeletePeople can be so kind!
