I am thankful for flowers and the memories they bring.
As I was walking around the yard yesterday, I realized that many of the flowers I saw have a special person associated with them.
 |
| This rose bush was a retirement gift from a dear friend. |
 |
| These Siberian irises are from our previous house. I gave some to a friend, and years later, when we moved, she gave me some back for my new house. |
 |
| These irises came from my aunt's yard. |
 |
| These helibore came from a friend, whom I met at the library. |
 |
| These irises came from Ward's grandmother's yard. |
 |
| This rhododendron was a gift in memory of my mother. It is West Virginia's state flower, and it blooms in what was her favorite color. |
So for these beautiful flowers and the special memories they bring, I am thankful.
Until next time...
I like that these flowers are special to you. These flowers you're showing are quite pretty.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
There are more plants that I didn't show that have special associations with them. I hadn't realized I had to many until I looked around.
DeleteWhat great memories you must have of these flowers, and the people who gave them to you! An older woman at our church gave my daughter plants with animal-related names, like lamb's ear and hens and chicks, back when she was a little girl. I think about Barb every time I look at them. 😀
ReplyDeleteAll but one of the people that these plants represent have passed away, so they are especially poignant. And some of these plants are generations old. That kind of blows my mind.
DeleteI love the animal theme plants. I'm gonna have to remember that.
My daughter was very shy, and she used the plants as a way to connect with her. It warmed my heart. :)
DeleteWhat a wonderful story and a wonderful person.
DeleteWhat lovely flowers and memories!
ReplyDeleteThey do make me smile when I see them.
DeleteIt is funny when flowers trigger memories. Irises remind me of Mom, and four o' clocks remind me of my grandmother. Violets remind me of my mother in law
ReplyDeleteDifferent flowers are supposed to mean different things, but to me they mean different people.
DeleteThose are special plants, aren't they? That rose is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis bush produced a price winning rose last year at the fair. Now if I can keep whatever is eating the leaves from destroying it. I've treated with three different things so far.
