Just like clockwork, five days after Ward came down with COVID, I tested positive. This is my second day, and it's not too bad. I had a fever that broke last night, and I feel better today than yesterday. Now it's just the common respiratory symptoms, a runny nose, a hacking cough, and some achiness.
Ward is on day seven and is feeling much better. In fact, according to the CDC, he's free to move about with a mask, so he's out getting some groceries for us. He is very happy to be out of the house, and we are both happy that we do not have to keep up the vigilance of staying apart. In fact, the first thing we did was sit together on the couch - a welcome change from the past week.
To get some fresh air this afternoon, I looked at some of the flowers in the yard. Even though the cats protested, it was good to get off the couch. Below are a few pictures.

These mums are quite the show-stopper every year. |

A lone surviving zinnia among the mums. |

Various vincas are still blooming around the yard, but our first frost last week has slowed them down quite a bit. |
|
I put these marigolds in late, so they're just starting to bloom. |
|
These mums were some that Miss Landers was throwing out. I take seasonal mums that people don't want and plant them with varying success. I can usually get a couple more seasons out of them before they die out. |

Same story with these mums. |
Until next time...
Oh, no, I'm so sorry to hear that you've got it, too! But, you have found the brighter side of things, too - at least you and Ward don't have to avoid being together! I hope that your symptoms continue to be mild and flu-like. Take it easy and rest. Your mums are gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteIt is nice that we don't have to wear a mask all of the time inside. Theo is self-contained downstairs, so that works out. We also have heavy duty fans and filters going as well as UV on our whole house system that should kill the virus.
DeleteCovid strikes again. :( Sorry to hear that. On the somewhat bright side, you will have more antibodies in your system going into the holiday season. At least, that's what I've been telling myself since I got it in August. I haven't gotten the latest booster yet because I'm trying to extend my natural immunity for a bit.
ReplyDeleteI think this is an excellent opportunity to be lazy--read some books, watch movies, do puzzles, that kind of thing.
The mums are so pretty! I don't think I've ever seen the salmon-colored ones
I am totally up to date on all of my boosters. Since I work with the public and little kids, I thought that would be best. This virus is unpredictable, but I have to believe that I'd feel much worse if I weren't up to date.
DeleteYesterday, I thought that I'd take this opportunity to catch up some training I need to do for work. However, today, I feel worse, so maybe not.
I hope the worst is behind you and each day you feel better and better. Take good care of yourself. As Kris suggested, maybe use this as an excuse to do some favorite low-key and entertaining things.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are beautiful.
I was feeling pretty encouraged yesterday because I wasn't feeling too bad. However, today the fever's back and the sore throat is much worse. Oh, well, it's still not bad in the grand scheme of things.
DeleteYour flowers are beautiful. I have five pots of mums to plant after they are spent. They may grow or they may not, but I'll plant them anyway.
ReplyDeleteI had three transplanted mums that didn't make it through the winter this year that had been around for a while. I know its a gamble, but it's always a nice surprise when they come back.
DeleteI love Mums, they're so bright and cheery. Staying in, when sick, can be challenging. But I loved it when I was sick and my cats enjoyed me being home too. I hope you're better soon!
ReplyDeleteMums are great. Just as the summer flowers are fading, they bloom. I am certainly enjoying them.
DeleteThose flowers are just so pretty!! Glad to hear you didn't get too sick from Covid. Hope you feel better soon!!

We feel very fortunate that we haven't gotten sicker. It's been not much more than a cold with fatigue. More of an inconvenience than a problem.
DeleteOh, no! I'm so sorry to hear that it found you. It's just almost unavoidable when it's in your home. I sure hope you are feeling better soon. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWe were very careful as soon as my husband tested positive, but I think he was contagious before that when we weren't careful. But, you're right, it's hard to avoid each other when you live together.
DeleteSounds like you had it worse than Ward. Glad you're feeling better and Ward can walk around more. But your garden does look so pretty. Hope you can enjoy your garden. Supposed to be beautiful weather on the east coast.
ReplyDeleteNeither one of us was too sick, thank goodness. We're experiencing good weather here today. Time to get outside.
DeleteOh no, sorry you're sick now. I hope it stays mild and you have a speedy recovery. Your mums are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWe are all well now. Mums, along with the changing leaves, are definitely the show stoppers of the fall.
