This and That

A to Z 2019
I have been posting just once a week for a while now. Oh, occasionally I throw an extra one in to mix it up a little, but not often. However, that average is going to get a boost soon because it's almost time for the April A to Z challenge! For those of you who might not know, the  A to Z Challenge challenges you to post every day in April except Sundays (26 days) using each letter of the alphabet as a general guideline for your posts.

I have done this for a few years now and find it both challenging and rewarding. Challenging because 26 posts in one month are a LOT for me and I am usually scrambling to come up with one for each day. Rewarding because I actually accomplish it and come up with some of my more interesting posts while trying to scrape something together.

There are other things going on in my life that take priority over this, so I'm not quite so coordinated as some who have themes and already completed posts. However, I'm going to give it a go. Join me April 1st for A. Oh, by the way, I have changed the format for my comments from embedded to a pop up window on the advice of the A to Z people. They say that allows more people to comment that way. I'm going to try it for a while, but so far, I don't like it as well as the old format.

And speaking of other things, here's some of what is going on these days.

--We are making progress with my parents house and actually have an offer on it. Now the desperate attempt to clean out everything before closing. I'll be going across the mountains for a few days soon to work on it with one of my sisters. And that also means that I'll be gone for the first couple of days of the A to Z challenge maybe without internet. We'll see what happens.

--Ward has been having eye problems that should sort themselves out in time, but in the meantime, he can't drive so I'm the only driver. Did I mention that I don't like to drive? But you gotta do what you gotta do.

--We're having warmer days interspersed with the cold ones and spring is beginning. Most things are only budding, but enough things are blooming to start the allergy miseries. I had a few days of sneezing, etc. that I thought were allergies which turned out to be a cold. I think I'm going to give a cold the reward for the least serious illness that causes the most misery. But it's better now.

--And on a few of those warm days, we've gotten some spring yard clean up done. It's nice to be outside again in the dirt, but not so nice to look around and see all that needs to be done. Maybe I should start doing Second Looks again. Those really helped me to not focus on all that needed to be done and just appreciate what nature had to share.

Laundry is calling.

Until next time...

  1. The A-Z challenge is an awesome one. I’ve become one of the blog-a-Holics, as it has brought me so much joy. It’s cathartic, and I’m so glad to have found so many women who still blog regularly. I think I might definitely do that challenge. Labeling my posts has been a work in progress, but I’m getting there

    1. There are a lot of rewards from blogging and I'm happy that you are finding some of them, Akasha. The first year I did the A-Z Challenge, it was all consuming because they encouraged you to read and comment on other blogs. Don't remember the number number of blogs you were supposed to visit, but between trying to come up with new content every day and visiting and commenting on the extra blogs, it took a lot of my time. I said that I'd wouldn't do it again. But obviously, I have. Since then, the challenge still keeps me busy, but I don't do as many extra things. I encourage you to try it. I think you will find it fun.

  2. I love the A to Z challenge! I'm not sure I'd be up for doing it myself, if I were a blogger, so kudos to you!

Good luck on cleaning out your mom's house. What a job that is!

I hope Ward's eyes will be okay. Good vision is one of those things we can take for granted until something threatens it.

    Safe travels!

    1. He started with Posterior Vitreous Detachment which is a normal part of aging when the vitreous starts to liquefy and pulls away from the retina. One doctor said that it is common and another said it happens to everyone somewhere in their 50's or 60's. It usually just comes with a lot of new floaters which settle some with time. However, when Ward had the PVD it tore his retina in two places. The tears have been fixed and are healing but until they are totally healed his activities are restricted. One of the side effects of the tears was bleeding in his eye which has caused very blurry vision. The blood should reabsorb in time and is already noticeably better in just a week. But you're right, when your vision is involved, it's scary.

  3. I'm looking forward to your A to Z challenge this year. I know I enjoyed reading your posts from last year.

I hope Ward's eye condition will improve quickly and you are relieved of driving duties, soon.

    Your crocuses are lovely!

That's great that you've had an offer on your parents' house. Good luck with getting the items cleared. I'm glad you will have one of your sisters helping you; these things are easier done when there is someone else there to share the experience, I think.

Hope the cold goes away, soon. I am still trying to get rid of my cough!

    1. Crocuses are my favorite spring flower. One of the first to bloom and always so bright and cheery. My new house didn't have any, so I tucked some bulbs here and there to greet me this spring. About half have bloomed so far and I am really enjoying them.

  4. That's where I met you, on A to Z. I don't have time for it, so busy I hardly have time to breathe anymore, but I'm taking a long break soon. Good luck with selling your mom's house and getting it cleaned out first, and with the A to Z.

    1. I remember, now, meeting during the A-Z Challenge. I think I checked you out because you were interested in cats. Little did I know that they were your life's work. I have been inspired by and learned a lot from you. One of the good things to come from the A-Z Challenge.

  5. Wow, sorry to hear about Ward's eye problems. I hope it settles out sooner rather than later.

    1. His eye is getting better. He can drive now, but is getting a little antsy to get back to exercise.
