Most of the week that we were
gone, there were heavy rains. However, these didn't seem to affect the yard dramatically. The grass grew taller, and more of the same flowers bloomed. There is mixed news on the baby bird front. All of the baby sparrows died in the nest while we were gone. The theory is that something got their mother. However, we have four new eggs in the bluebird nest. Such is nature.
Here are a few things I saw this week during my Second Look.

Hydrangea, Endless Summer |

This Carolina Wren sings to us every morning. |

I saw only one mourning dove recently, and now another one has joined it. I assume they are a mating pair. |
So what's the trick with hydrangeas? Mine look so pitiful and yours so full and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the doves. How beautiful!
I have no secret other than wait. This is the third year for these plants and they have more blooms every year.
DeleteYour flowers look pretty - ours are starting to show some colour too, even with the cool damp spring so far. We have lots of mourning doves in our trees, and I saw one of those wrens at our feeder this morning, just didn't know what it was until now. I'm going to have to buy myself a bird book.
ReplyDeleteI have bird books but I mostly use a web site from Cornell University for birds. I find it very good.
