Poconos 2026, Day 6, Delaware Water Gap

My family and I are on a week-long trip to the Poconos which I am recording parts of here. Join me and follow along, if you'd like.

The morning was brisk and clear and warmed up into the 50s F. It was a perfect day for hiking, so we headed east to the Delaware Water Gap in search of a hike and a waterfall. We looked at various areas and ended up taking hikes on the Hornbecks Trail and in George W. Child's Park. We found beautiful woods and more than one waterfall. Everyone we passed on the trail was smiling. It was that kind of day.

Below are some pictures from our day.

We stopped in Stroudsburg on the way home for dinner at the Sarah Street Grill before heading home to puzzles, books, and naps.

We're still not sure what we want to do tomorrow, our last day before heading home. We will see where the spirit takes us.

Until next time...

  1. What a lovely day to be out in the woods enjoying the waterfalls! Excellent way to remember which one is which with those signs!

    1. A few years ago, I figured out that I needed to take pictures of signs. It helps me a lot later when looking at the pictures.

    2. I was also noticing the waterfall signs. I do the same thing--I take pictures of the trail names, waterfall names, etc., because memory is a slippery thing

I can see why everyone was smiling on the trail. What a perfect fall day for a hike!

    1. I haven’t seen most of this country, including areas that are an easy drive away. But I’m seeing more of it since I retired.

    1. No retail outings for us today. And I was ok with that.

  5. That looks like a good place for a hike or a slow walk. So many things to pause and look at.

    Have a lovely day.

    1. Sometimes the rocky path made me go slowly and that helped me to look around more. That was a good thing.
