Here's a random group of pictures that don't tell any kind of story except maybe what I find interesting. Not all are great pictures, but they remind me of things I've seen. My father-in-law once said he didn't care much about a picture's quality if it was good enough to remind him of something, and I think that applies here.

| This is a weevil that we found attached to the end of a roll of toilet paper. Somehow, we didn't get a picture for scale, but the actual insect was quite small, about 1/4" long. I took it outside, and it eventually disappeared. I can tell you I look more closely at the toilet paper before I use it now. :) |

My mouth is watering from looking at your pears. Mmm. It will be a few more weeks before we start seeing them here. I'm a little alarmed by the weevil on your toilet paper. Yikes! The framed magnets are a good idea. I also love to collect magnets from trips.
ReplyDeleteThere was a store advertising moonshine for sale when we were in Pennsylvania last week. We thought that was funny. I always thought that moonshine was something that people didn't advertise, sort of a hush-hush thing.
My moonshiner relatives were active during the Prohibition, so they were hush-hush, sort of, I guess because they had to get word out to their customers.

First time I'm hearing about Little Free Art Galleries. Wonderful pictures, June, each one telling a story! Your pears look great and I really like that rooster! The tree with the barely there trunk is a wonder of nature, but, I'm not sure I'd want to find a weevil attached to the end of a roll of toilet paper!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing what other things pop up in the art gallery. It's not in an area that I go to all the time, but will make an effort to check it out when I'm there. You and your daughter would have so many things to display. I wonder if there are any little free art galleries around where you live?

DeleteNice selection! Your husband would enjoy Volcano Days at Mountwood Park, just a few miles outside Parkersburg on Route 50. All kinds of old steam and gas powered stuff there.
ReplyDeleteWe go through Lubeck often. Great little thrift there in the old firehouse.
I looked up Volcano Days and see that they will be later in September. Since we will be in the area a couple of weeks before for a family reunion, I don't think we will be able to come back for the festival. But maybe next year. I had never been to Lubeck, so I decided I wanted to see it. I have a feeling that it was not as developed 90-some years ago when my father was born there.
