We recently took a family trip to Maine, and I am chronicling our travels here. Today's post gives highlights of our trip home.
Our original plan was to zip home in one day, but the trip up told us we would be happier spreading it out over two days. We were glad that we had built that contingency into our plans.
After taking various family pictures, we were on our way by 8 am.

After lunch in Hartford, CT, our next stop was in the Delaware Water Gap. |

We took a trail to the top and the bottom of the Raymondskill Falls. These falls are the tallest in Pennsylvania, tumbling over 150'. |

Before we found our hotel for the evening, we stopped at Grey Towers in Milford, PA. |
We had takeout from a local restaurant before retiring to the hotel for the night. Three out of the four of us had colds by now, so we were happy to retreat and cough in peace.

The next morning, we made another stop in the Delaware Water Gap at Silver Thread Falls. |

The next stop was the Pocono Environmental Education Center. |

All of the parking stops in the parking lot were painted with outdoor scenes. |

We enjoyed wandering around the nature center. |
Then it was the final push for home. We finished the book we were listening to with less than an hour left of the trip.
And while we had a good time, there's no place like home.
Until next time...
Welcome (a bit late) home. I didn't know turkey vultures had a wider wingspan than ospreys! Sorry you all caught colds.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I too was surprised with how wide a turkey vultures wing span was.
DeleteGreat way to end the challenge! Congrats on finishing in style...
ReplyDeleteI was doubtful that a would finish the challenge after it was officially over, but I am glad I did.
DeleteWhy don't they art paint all those parking stops? I love that! And the wingspan checker. That's interesting. You have the span of an osprey.
ReplyDeleteAll of the parking lot stops were painted. It was a fun surprise that we all enjoyed. I agree there should be more of them.
DeleteYay, you did well with the A-Z Challenge this year, too! Sounds like you had a nice journey home and found some fun things to do on the way back. Sorry to hear that some of you got colds, but, hopefully, everyone will feel well soon.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is getting better from their cold. However, as happens sometimes, there is a lingering cough.
DeleteI have enjoyed reading about your trip. I think we might like to visit Maine at some time or another.
ReplyDeleteI would recommend a visit to Maine sometime. Maybe sometime when you want to escape the southern heat.
DeleteThose waterfalls are worth a trip by themselves. As you say, to go is good, to come home is even better. Now to rest and recover!
ReplyDeleteThe Delaware Water Gap is beautiful and we hope to go back sometime.
DeleteSounds like a good trip. I wouldn't mind visiting Maine. The water fall is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely.
The waterfall fell over three different levels make it very dramatic.
