I is for "In Search of..."

In honor of National Poetry Month, I thought I would post a poem from one of my favorite poets, Shel Silverstein. He has written several books for children full of clever, humorous rhymes.

Here's a Sample of his work:

In Search of Cinderella

From dusk to dawn,

From town to town,

Without a single clue,

I seek the tender, slender foot

To fill this crystal shoe.

From dusk to dawn,

I try it on

Each damsel that I meet.

And I still love her so, but oh,

I've started hating feet.

From Shel Silverstein's A Light in the Attic

Until next time...

  1. Shel Silverstein is hilarious. I think my favorite poem from him is this one: https://www.poetryverse.com/shel-silverstein-poems/theyve-put-brassiere-on-camel#google_vignette

    1. That's a good one, too. It's hard to pick a favorite since most everything he writes is clever and humorous.

  3. Love his work indeed, although I'm personally more familiar with the Dutch poems, being that my native language is Dutch.

    1. Sometimes poetry doesn't translate well into other languages. It sounds like Silverstein's work did.

    1. I was reading about him and Silverstein did quite a bit of work before the children's books. He had to be convinced to write them, but I'm glad he did.
