Spring is definitely showing itself here, as something else blooms every day. Here are the flowers blooming in my yard this week.
 |
Some daffodils are starting to fade, |
 |
While others are going strong. |
 |
This dianthus is a little beaten down from the rain we had this morning. |
 |
Quince bush |
 |
Leaves are starting to join the forsythia blooms. I like the color combination. |
 |
Our sour cherry tree is just starting to bloom, |
 |
But the neighbor's ornamental cherry has been in full bloom for about a week. |
 |
I planted these bleeding hearts last year, so I'm happy that they are blooming this year. However, they may have suffered some recent frost damage. |
 |
We have cardinals who like this ornamental plum tree. |
 |
These grape hyacinths are pretty but have totally taken over this bed. I pulled tons of them to give the other plants a chance to come up. After they finish blooming, I will pull more. |
 |
Another shade of purple is getting ready to bloom on this lilac bush. |
 |
This crabapple tree is also getting ready to bloom. |
 |
Unfortunately, in the 8 years we've lived here, we have not gotten any apples from this apple tree. |
 |
Our pear trees are always prolific but not disease-free. |
 |
When I look out in the backyard, I see something new blooming every day. Today, it was a crabapple tree. |
What does spring look like where you live?
Until next time...

ReplyDeleteI love flowers.
I do, too. :)
DeleteWonderful blossoms...and it even looks like someone has already cut the grass!
ReplyDeleteWe did our first cut of the season a few days ago. Some areas were really high, while others not so much. It looks really nice now, all trimmed up to the same height.
DeleteSo beautiful. We are about a month behind you in terms of blooms, but are starting to see daffodils and forsythia.
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting to see how much geography affects the climate. Just an hour south of here, things are usually 1-2 weeks ahead of us. Enjoy your yellows.
DeleteWe are trying to get some spring color going but have two more nights below freezing this week!!

We're going below freezing this week, also. We'll see what survives.
DeleteYour garden is looking so pretty with all those colorful flowers! I hope this is the year you will get some apples on your tree! Has it really been 8 years since you moved?
ReplyDeleteAnother apple tree, which we had gotten apples from, last year blew down in a storm last year. We planted another tree that is finally producing a few apples, but the deer have gotten all of those. We'll see what this year brings.
DeleteAnd yes, it's been 8 years. I can't believe it, either.
DeleteYour flowers are beautiful! I am surprised to see that you are a bit behind us as far as what's in bloom. Our daffodils and forsythia are really done, except for a few late variety daffodils. The pear is finished and the cherry is just about done too
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's been rainfall differences this spring?
DeleteThose trees are lovely. I wouldn't mind having a backyard like that.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
We are lucky that the previous owners planted the trees. Unfortunately, we lost two of them to storms.
DeleteThe ornamentals sure are pretty when they bloom. In some places, they line city streets here and the blooms are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThere's so much in bloom here that there's color almost everywhere you turn.
DeleteYour flowers are so pretty! I really like the daffodils with the darker center. And I love your hyacinths! I wish mine would take over like that! I never seem to have much luck with bulbs, so I count myself lucky that even a few of the hyacinths come up every year.
ReplyDeleteGrape hyacinths aren't really hyacinths and spread both by bulbs and seeds. I didn't realize the part about the seeds, so I think that is what has happened. You might try them. If you were closer, I'd have a lot of bulbs for you to plant.
DeleteYou have so many beautiful flowers in your yard! I especially love the ornamental plum tree! So pretty! We are seeing some daffodils and beautiful azaleas blooming here!
ReplyDeleteNo azaleas here yet. It will probably be another 3 or 4 weeks for them.
DeleteEverything looks so peaceful and pretty.
ReplyDeleteSpring is a happy time of year for everything that is growing. It's before the heat of the summer comes and stresses everything.
