Thankful Sunday, June 14, 2020

I am thankful for my father's ears.

The other day, one of my friends was lamenting that her ears were small and not shaped well to hold the elastic from the face mask she was wearing. That was something I had not given much thought about for you see I have my father's ears--ears that stick out and are plenty big enough to hold most sizes of bands. Who knew that the ears that have held me back from having all of the hairstyles I've wanted would come in so handy someday.

So as I get ready to go back to work where I will have to wear a mask all day, I am thankful for my father's ears to hold it securely in place. 😁

  1. I have my dad's pronounced chin which anchors my mask. Who ever knew something I was not found of would come in so handy one day.

    1. I call it the silver lining to not always my favorite feature. And as time goes on, my big ears make me smile because they remind me of my father.

  2. This made me laugh. I would never have paid attention to the size of your father's ears--in this picture, at least, they just seem like .... ears. I suspect that we all focus on our "flaws" and other people don't even notice them.

I have to admit, though, that when I took my mom to a medical appointment this past week, I noticed that her mask kept slipping below her nose. I don't have that problem and I think it's because the end of my nose is upturned while hers is nice and straight. So I guess I'm right there with you and Anne, thinking that finally my funny nose is coming in handy. :)

    1. That was the picture I could find and it does not do his ears justice.

Maybe all the people I see out without the mask over their nose (which annoys me), have a straight nose. Never thought about that.

  3. I just love all the things you find to be thankful for!

When do you have to go back to work? Will your work place provide you with masks or will you have to provide your own?

    1. I go back in a week. They are supposed to supply us with 2 cloth masks that we take home and wash. I am very anxious to know how everything is going to be worked out. Part of me is glad to be back into the library, but part of me is quite comfortable here at home and would be happy to stay a little longer.

    1. We only recently found that picture. I think he was about 15 then.

  5. Ha! That's so funny because I can't wear most masks due to small ears. I wish I had your fathers ears too at this time.

    1. But you can wear your hair back without everyone noticing your ears. The grass is always greener, isn't it? :)
