Thankful Sunday--September 18, 2016

I am thankful for signed papers.

Hundreds of signatures later, we now own two houses. Next we're waiting on the contractor to see when he can start. Included in this is floor work, so there is very little we can move until it is done. In the meantime, we continue to get rid of things here and make lists of what need to be done. Lots of lists. However, for every step forward on this move, I am thankful.

Uncle Billy and Aunt Martha stopped by
and helped us install new door locks.

    1. Record time. I like the sound of it. However, we just found out it's going to be 2 weeks before the contractor can start. I don't know if that's real time or contractor time which is much longer than real time. It's not like we don't have other things to do, but that it a key part to this whole puzzle. No one ever said this was going to be easy.

  2. Very nice home! The room with the French doors and fireplace will be a cozy place to hang out. When can I come over? ;)

    1. That room is my favorite. It's really pretty, but we're having a hard time figuring out how furniture is going to fit. There is very little wall space with only one uninterrupted wall. Figuring out how you're going to use a new space sometimes can only be figured out after you live in it for a while. Trying to duplicate what we have now will not work and that's what my mind keeps trying to do.

      You are welcome anytime. :)

    2. my living room is long and narrow. It took me a couple of years to get an arrangement I like. I have a large picture window, and next to that is a fireplace--definitely awkward. I ended up with dividing the room into 2 parts to get it to work. Well, really 3 sections--the main seating area is by the window, then a small reading corner by the fireplace, and opposite of the fireplace is our desk.

    3. Some people have visions immediately how to use a space and how they want it to look. That's not one of my strengths, so it may take some time until it is figured out. We're also struggling with the dining room. There's no way to fit a large table into it, so it may become an office. There is an eat in kitchen, so we may use that and set up folding tables in the living room if we have very many people over--which is not often.

  3. Congratulations! How exciting! And what a relief it must be that you're done with all that paperwork. Compared to that, selling your "old" house should be a cinch, no? It's nice that you can still live there while your new house is getting ready for your arrival. Very best of luck!

    1. Thanks, Nathalie. It is very nice that we didn't have to move and buy in the same day. Although sometimes I wish we had, so it would be all over.
