Winter continues and is bringing more of the same with it. We had another snow this week although there wasn't as much accumulation with only 4 inches. This weekend they're calling for bitter cold temperatures. I had hoped to do some outdoor activities then, but we'll see how it goes. In the meantime, I'm enjoying watching the world out the kitchen window.
Here are a few things I saw this week
during a Second Look.
|
The snow we had this week was wet and heavy and very pretty. |
|
Now that the snow is melting from the grass, the deer are back in the yard. |
|
Starling. The starling gets white spots in the winter and looks blacker in the summer. |
|
Bluebird. It was really cold this day so the bluebird was puffed up to keep warm. |
|
House finch. |
|
Cowbird and Red-bellied Woodpecker |
I didn't know that about starlings. The white flecks are quite pretty on them.
ReplyDeleteI know that starlings are considered pests by some, but I also think they are quite pretty. And luckily, they have behaved themselves at our feeders.
DeleteIt's been cold here too so I'm in more trying to stay warm. I did notice spring can't be far away because the birds have been waking me up. It's so nice to hear the birds return.
ReplyDeleteThe groundhog said that we're having an early spring, so it must be true. 😉
DeleteWould it be horrible of me to tell you that we've had weather in the 60's for the past few days and it's supposed to last until late next week. CatMan and I rode for 35 miles today and it was fantastic. I'm sure winter will return - March is our snowiest month, followed closely by April, but I'm sure enjoying this while I can. Stay warm!!!
ReplyDeleteNo, it would not be horrible. I'm happy that you were able to take some bike rides. While you're having your heaviest snow months in March and April, ours will be waning. Then you'll have to hear about my better weather.
DeleteAgain, just love the photos of the birds on the feeders, the bluebird photo also. You capture them so well, perfectly in focus against the background.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy watching the birds. A few years ago, my husband asked for a bird feeder for his birthday. I'm so glad he did.
