I am thankful for simple but well made things.
This is one of the first pieces of woodworking that Ward's brother did. (He has since gone on to become a master woodworker.) First it resided with their grandmother for decades and when she died, it came to live with us. After putting it to good use for many years, it is time for it to move on to live with my son. And the beat goes on... (Everyone knows that Sonny and Cher song, right?)
Sorry, not sure I know the song ... but the stool is nice!
ReplyDeleteThe song is a classic oldie, so I thought most people would have heard it. You might recognize it if you did.
DeleteNothing better than a sturdy foot stool! Especially a hand made one.
ReplyDeleteToday I am thankful for warmer weather (it got up to 31 - woo hoo!!!)
We are on the edge of the effects of the polar vortex, so it was just yesterday that we made it into the 20's. We've had flurries and sleet, but it all has been short lived. I am thankful too that your temperatures have been rising. Good thing you've been preparing for the cold.
DeleteIt is very nice that you are passing the stool on to another generation. I have a table and benches that my grandfather made for me when I was 2. It needs another home soon. I think I will ship it to my granddaughter ( She is not a year old yet, but it's never too early, right?)
ReplyDeleteNever too early...
