      As well as I can determine, it is a Wheel Bug (Arilus cristatus).

    I enjoyed this look at what you found, and got quite a laugh out of the last one of a thorn in the thumb. I have had plenty of thorns stuck in my hands so I can relate.

      Unfortunately, that wasn't the only thorn I had stuck on me that day. I don't know why I think that I can always sneak past them.

      Google is great. I got a hit on the bug with the first thing I looked for and found out about the wheel bug.

    Great Pictures. What kind of berries are those? Love the flower pictures and OUCH to the thorn picture.
