You Can't Make this Stuff Up

My neighborhood has a Facebook group where we communicate with each other. Here is a recent exchange.

W.   A dark bluish grey SUV drove thru the neighborhood around 6 and was dropping off chickens. If you have noticed any contact the Carey's at the end of Mullberry. they already came by and got mine but too dark to find any others.

A.  Just randomly “dropping off chickens”? That’s really weird! I wonder what the chickens think of that? Gives sort of a new twist to dinner delivery. I wonder if we can get some random vehicle to drive through dropping off dumplings, oh man that would be great.

L.  Daisy and Emma didn’t find any here. Young man searched my yard. How very strange!

 W.  L, you have one and it will show up.

L.  I have a chicken?

C.  I’m still trying to wrap my head around this. I mean, how hard is it to find a home for chickens? I’m sure much easier than rounding them up, driving to an unsuspecting neighborhood and sprinkling them about!

A.  Oh yeah! What a great thought! Chicken seeding!

A.  This is fantastic! What a great diversion in the middle of harvest!

A.  I wonder if the government is experimenting with “chicken seeding” now instead of cloud seeding.. it’s been raining enough for God’s sake. I wonder if “chicken seeding” is a new drying technique to wring the clouds out before they get here?

I can't tell you any more than the above exchange.
It's all still a mystery.

  1. You have some very clever neighbors! I love this and am kind of envious. About the only thing my neighborhood facebook group does is gripe about random cars who drive too fast. Chicken seeding would be great!

    1. The whole thing is crazy. I think the absurdness of it brought out some witty comments. I've been gone so I haven't had a chance to talk to my next door neighbor about the whole chicken thing. He was the one who did the first post.

  2. Too funny! I occasionally find a chicken or two in my backyard, as some of my neighbors keep chickens! In fact, there was one time, when the neighbor in the house behind me knocked on my door and asked if she could search my back garden to see if any of her chickens were hiding there, as she couldn't find some of them. No telling with chickens! I think the stray cats would love it if any chickens showed up in my backyard! :D

    1. There is one house in the neighborhood that does have chickens, but they don't bother us except for the rooster crowing sometimes. However, at our last house, we would get cows in our yard sometimes when a fence needed to be fixed.

Chickens seem a little big to me for a cat to hunt, but who knows? Cats are very good hunters.

  3. Were you able to find out more about this from your neighbor? I'm curious to know what it was all about! :D

    1. Don't know any more than I did before. Maybe it was some kind of prank or initiation rites. If it happens again, then we really need to start investigating.
