Spring

Even though Spring will officially be here later this week, it seems as if it's taking forever to fully arrive. Or maybe I'm just impatient. Or maybe I'm not. Per happenstance, I was comparing pictures taken today and a year ago today and here's what I found.

This year where I am seeing just buds on the trees, last year they were in full bloom. This year where I am seeing just buds on the flowers, last year they were in full bloom. In fact the crocus are the only thing in bloom so far this year where there were at least a half dozen types of flowers in bloom last year. So I'm not impatient. Spring is coming slower this year. However, I hear good things come to all who wait.

A few comparisons are below.

  1. Well... it's probably a good sign that things are a bit slower this year, since last year was such a hot miserable summer!

    1. But if it doesn't get really hot this summer, I won't be able to continue my egg frying experiments. :)

  2. Yep, it snowed here this morning. March is a bust.

    1. It's raining/sleeting here right now. But the birds are still acting like it's spring with a lot of singing and flitting around.

  3. We are having a winter storm right now, colder than most of the rest of winter and the forecast is for much of the same for the rest of the week. I'm with you, spring needs to hurry up or cabin fever will set in strongly here.

    1. I'm glad you got out recently for your walk to town with your granddaughter. You talk about a lake sometimes. Do you get lake-effect snow?

  4. We had a horrible cold rainy February (which is supposed to be summer!), but now the weather has cleared up and it's warm again. I hope you get your spring soon, but I'm not looking forward to winter!

    1. I'm glad you're having more good weather. I know that you are in summer now, but hearing you talk about winter coming is not fun. I'm done with winter for now.

  5. Well, maybe a late arrival of spring will mean a condensed version, with glorious blossoms everywhere, just out a bit more briefly.
Although we've had a milder seeming winter here, our flowers are a bit late, as well. I was hard pressed to find daffodils for my daughters' birthday. Usually we have a large vase of full-sized ones. This year it was a tiny vase of petite daffodils.
At least I don't feel guilt about not getting out into the yard to plant very much yet.

    1. It's interesting that we're both having a late spring on opposites sides of the country. I've been outside working a little--mostly things that I didn't get to last fall. However, it's been cold enough that I haven't spent much time outside. But I have worked enough to make my back and knees hurt.:)

  6. I'm hoping that more of a winter and cooler spring will mean a better summer here this year. The last couple of years we've had a sunshiney spring and that's been our summer for the year.

    1. I hope that you have a better summer too. If I remember right, last summer was cold and rainy for you?

    1. That's what happens when you accidentally put pictures into the wrong folder. :)
