A Second Look--April 17, 2013

This week's Second Look is the week of the daffodils. Some are fading as others are beginning to bloom. However if I found them all, I have seven different daffodil varieties in bloom right now. A few other things are blooming and a nest has been started in our new nesting box. Soon the grass will need it's first cut. Spring is truly here.

Here's what I found this week during a Second Look.

  1. What gorgeous pics you take! I'm going to have to go out and take a 'second look' too!

    1. I really enjoy it for I truly find interesting things when I take a "Second Look" rather than focus on all of the work that needs to be done in the yard.

  2. Wow, spring is well and truly in the air now. My mum used to have daffodils in the garden when I was growing up and I remember them coming out in the middle of winter, but I guess that doesn't happen where you have snow :)

    1. You're right--no daffodils in the middle of winter here. The interesting thing about the daffodils this year is that I don't remember the all white ones. After living here 15 years, you'd think I'd have that figured out. Finding different kinds of daffodils is what inspired the Second Look in the first place. Maybe I'll have to have a "Third Look" now. :)

    1. I noticed a few similarities from your comparison walk recently.

  4. Hi live and learn,
I am always clicking on the wrong thing with this computer. Anyway, I had asked a question and I managed to delete my own comment. I will never become computer savvy -- sigh.

In the last photo, what are the blossoms? I was wondering if that's mulberry. We don't have mulberry in our area, but have always wanted to see one.

My favorite daffodils are the very pristine, all white ones.

    1. Those white blossoms are peris japonica-a shrub. We do have a couple of mulberry trees that produce a few berries. I'll try to get a picture of them flowering this year if I can. They are not nearly as showy as the peach blossoms in this post.

    1. Spring was slow in coming to us this year. Hope you get to experience it soon.
