Today

Today I'm going to pay better attention to
 details than I did yesterday.

I looked down in the middle of eating this salad and saw that one of the tines of my fork was missing. I have no idea when it broke off or where it went. It gave me pause for concern that I was unaware of a detail like that.

Do you ever have times when you wonder how you missed something that was staring you right in the face?

  1. That's rather funny. You don't recall eating an extra crunchy "crouton"? Things like this slip past me quite a lot. I guess I become too distracted by everything else going on.

    1. I'm not sure what happened. It's hard to tell how many things slip by that I never notice.

  2. I would be hard pressed to mention all the things that have been right in front of me and I didn't see them. The most famous was grocery shopping, I could stand in front of a shelf of food and not find what I was looking for. For example, if I was searching a shelf of canned tomato products and wanted tomato puree, I would finally turn to my youngest son who was a stickler for details and he would point right to it.

    1. Stores are the worst because they move their merchandise around all of the time. They want you look for something because there is more of a chance of an impulse buy while you are looking for something else. With that being said, some people are just more detail oriented.

  3. I do this more often than I'd like to admit! I lose things within minutes of having them in my hand. Most of the time I do this because I am distracted by children arguing or the dogs barking...if I'm being pulled in a couple different directions I just need to put things down!

    1. Kids arguing and dogs barking. I think that's all of the detail anyone can handle at one time.

  4. Haha, things slip past me a lot as well. I tend to not notice a lot about my surroundings, while Mr Omnivore notices everything and can't believe how little I notice!

    1. Or is it that you just notice different things? I know that happens a lot with Ward and me.
