Hello, again.

I haven't posted since New Year's Day. I've composed a few posts in my head and even started a Year in Review post but didn't get past February. Blog follow-through has not been my strong suit this month.

One of the pieces from the mantle I'm missing.
BTW, I don't display it with the ribbon.
😀

I guess I've been preoccupied with other things. First, there were the busy holidays which, by the way, we have only one last thing from them to put away. Everything is back in its regular place except for the two framed cross-stitch pieces that we display on our mantle. I put them away somewhere they wouldn't get broken, and I can't find them. I looked where I thought I put them and then every other place I could think of. They will show up eventually, I hope. The question now is whether I should wait to find them or find other things to put on the mantle. Right now, I am still waiting for them to miraculously appear.

The other mantle cross-stitch I'm missing.

Also, I am retiring at the end of this month. Besides trying to wrap my brain around this significant change, there has been a ton of confusing paperwork to turn in, but I have done that successfully. In addition, we've been trying to get various doctor appointments in before our insurance changes in February.

And with more time on our hands coming soon, we're planning three trips next year. We haven't made any big trips since before the Pandemic, so we're out of the practice of planning. But we have friends and family helping, making things a bit easier. Soon, details will fall into place, and I won't feel quite so overwhelmed.

Ward shoveling our driveway last week.

Amongst those big things, we've started back to dance class, gone to my niece's first communion, and shoveled snow.

And speaking of work, I had better get ready.

Until next time...

  1. I hope you have better luck with your needlework reappearing than I have with a book. I moved it from the kitchen table where I was reading it a few days before Christmas and put it somewhere safe. It seems safe is none of the nearly 1 billion places I have looked for it thus far!

    1. It's not like these pictures are small things. I have tucked them behind something to keep them safe. Just wish I knew where that was.

  2. Oh, I do hope you find your cross stitched pictures soon. They are both so lovely. I've put a few things in "safe places" and I've not been able to find them, either!
Congratulations on your upcoming retirement. I hope all your plans for travel work out well. :)

    1. I may have to ask you some advice about retirement. You seem to be doing it well.

  3. I had to laugh when I read about the missing pieces! I packed away the decor i had out before Christmas and I couldn't find it either! I finally put out some other things, and then a couple days ago I found the tote in the bottom of my closet. So maybe that trick would work for you!
Congratulations on retirement! I know that for me it was a huge relief, and I never looked back. Actually, I have only been back to that library twice since I retired. I hope you will find retirement as enjoyable as I have. Looking forward to hearing about your upcoming trips.

    1. I did check my closet since I had put some presents in there, but didn't find them. :( I am excited about the many possibilities that come with retirement, but also a little intimidated by them all. Like any change, it will take some time to adjust, but be good in the end.

  4. I hope your cross stitches reappear soon. I always put mine in the holiday bin that I happen to be using so I can find it when I take that particular decor down. My issue is always forgetting one or two things after everything is packed away! Haha! 😂 I found a couple of Christmas decorations still out the other day. It never fails. But congratulations on your upcoming retirement! That’s exciting! I’m glad you and Ward will have time to do the things you love to do, especially traveling! That snow looks super cold! 🥶 Glad to see a post from you!

    1. More than one person has said that they put things in the bin they take the decorations out of. Maybe I should do that next year. I always find something after I've put all of the decorations away. :)

    1. Most people I know say they are busier in retirement than they were before. We shall see.
