I am thankful for small surprises.
Last week, I was chatting with a coworker about how her Passover and my Easter went. During the course of the conversation, we talked about Easter Candy that was on sale. I hadn't gotten any and she had brought in a bag of chocolates to share. I mentioned how I liked the large candy coated, marshmallow filled Easter eggs but don't always see them in the stores. Most people don't like them because they are so sweet, but I do.
The next morning, there was a bag of these eggs on my desk. What a nice surprise to start the day. For this totally unexpected gesture of kindness, I am thankful.
Also, I'm thankful that you can only find them once a year because I don't need to be eating these things very often.
How nice of your friend! And I'm with you on the once-a-year concept. I don't know why I like jelly beans so much, but they seem to disappear around me!
ReplyDeleteDo you have certain colors that you like better than the others. I definitely don't like the black (licorice) or the red (cherry), but the others seem to disappear around me, also. However, the males of the family like those colors so there's not waste when we get a bag of traditional flavors. I actually haven't had any jelly beans this year. I didn't buy any candy for Easter except for my mother. But the season is not over. I may get some if I see a clearance bag.
DeleteI don't care for the black ones, either, but I like the rest. I typically pull the jelly beans from the kid's baskets and put them in a bowl on the coffee table. My mom loves black jelly beans and as she was at our house on Easter, a bunch of them disappeared around her. Surprisingly, my picky son also likes them. We haven't broken into the Peeps yet, but I also like those. We aren't a big candy-eating family so candy disappears fairly slowly around here.
DeleteI don't really like Peeps, thank goodness. We love candy around here, so it's best if we don't bring it into the house. Unfortunately, it makes its way in more often than it should.
DeleteWhat a nice surprise! I like jelly beans and was so surprised to find two plastic eggs with jelly beans on my desk at work, last week. I did, however, give into temptation and buy a bag of jelly beans, too! Don't like the black ones, either. But the others are fine!
ReplyDeleteSounds like the Easter Bunny was busy on both coasts last week. :)
DeleteThat's a good friend! I don't care for marshmallows, I actually don't like much candy with the exception of plain chocolate. I know I'm weird. :-)
ReplyDeleteI usually don't like marshmallows either, but I do in this case. Have you ever liked candy? Or is that a part of your condition symptoms?
DeleteOh I love marshmallows. I have to stop buying them because I eat them all. I buy them with the intent to make rice crispy treats for the kids, and 99% of the time I end up eating the marshmallows.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite are the bear shaped ones that are dipped in chocolate. Usually you get those at those candy stores that sell candy by the pound. Oooh, and they have the gummy bears covered in chocolate as well. Now I'm craving those.
It was super nice of your co-worker to think of you that way!
I've never seen gummy bears dipped in chocolate. I'm not sure if I would like that or not. Although, I will say that chocolate improves the taste of most everything.
DeleteI am neither a marshmallow or jelly bean fan. I remember as a kid getting those eggs in my Easter basket and never eating them. (They must have been cheap because we mostly got the very inexpensive stuff)
ReplyDeleteI am a chocolate fan, but I bought zero Easter candy this year. We are eating sweets only once a week and just need no temptation around.
We got mostly jelly beans as a kid. I also think because they were cheap. They were my least favorite thing and the last thing I ate. But I was disappointed when they were gone.
DeleteI like the black jelly beans.
DeleteAnother person I could share a bag of jelly beans with and both of us would be happy.
