Hello, Again.

Hello, again. Time for a quick check-in.

I've found plenty to keep me busy here with outdoor projects when the weather is good and ongoing indoor projects when the weather is bad. Per usual, I'm behind where I want to be on getting veggies planted but making progress. I hope to get tomatoes planted in the next couple of days, including moving volunteers to a more desirable location. The real question is, where do I want to plant the wildly growing cherry tomatoes. We like to eat them, but they take up a lot of room.

But the outdoor work will have to wait because today is grocery shopping and cleaning because we have company coming tomorrow. My nephew is getting married on Saturday, and family is coming to town for it. First up is to find out what is causing the smell in the office. So far, haven't found it. And, of course, Ward doesn't smell it. But the cup of coffee he is drinking may have something to do with that.

Also, here's what's blooming in the yard this week.

Coral bells. Even though these are pink, every time I see them, I break out in song with "White Coral Bells."

The first iris has bloomed.

Salvia

Honeysuckle. Honeysuckle can take many forms, including as an invasive vine. However,
this is a bush and well-contained, so we can enjoy the heavenly smell without the aggravation.

The lily of the valley is fading.

There is one lone bachelor's button blooming.

Amsonia. We moved these last fall, so I'm happy to see that they are doing well.

This rhododendron bush did not come out of the winter well and is looking scraggly. I hope it bounces back because this was a bush we planted in remembrance of my mother.

Another rhododendron in another part of the yard is doing better.

Vinca groundcover

A few phlox are still blooming.

The last of the azaleas.

Until next time...

  1. I love Salvia. They're so pretty. My rhodee is looking lousy too, but blooming!

    1. There some road medians around here where salvia are planted in mass, and they are so pretty.

  2. You have such a variety of pretty flowers in your garden! I love seeing them! I hope the rhododendron bush you planted in memory of your mother will do well. Its flowers are a very pretty color!
How is Annie doing now that she is without Leo? Hope she is doing well.

    1. Annie is doing okay. She is perhaps more demanding than before, and i do see her staring at the spot where Leo used to sleep.

  3. I'm glad that Annie is doing ok. Hopefully you and Ward are holding up.

I started singing White Coral Bells, too, when I saw the picture. It was a knee jerk response. :)

What is it with men and their lack of ability to smell things? My husband never smells anything until it is overpowering.

    1. Maybe men don't have many odor receptors as women. I know that women have more cones in their in their retinas so they can see colors better. Ward and I doing fine. I think most of the tears are done flowing. At least for now.

  4. ha! i wonder what the smell is. The other day i think we had a chipmunk in the car, there was this strong musky smell in my car, and after our swim ( see post) the smell was gone.

    1. Never quite figured it out, but we opened the windows and aired the house out. Unfortunately, because allergies, we can't have windows open as often as we like.
