I is for Ice Cream

A conversation with a young Wally.

"Wally, I see you were eating ice cream again without asking first. This has been happening too much lately. I am worried about your lack of willpower."

"Mama, my willpower is usually very good. Except when I get caught."

I'll have to admit that my willpower is not that good either when it comes to ice cream-especially vanilla topped with hot fudge. Yum.

Do you find ice cream or another treat hard to resist?

  1. I like fruity icecreams...strangely am not that tempted towards icecreams...I also like vanilla though among all flavors

    1. While I prefer vanilla and chocolate flavors, I like fruity flavors, too. Except raspberry-not a fan.

  2. I love ice cream. I'm a fan of vanilla with any kind of cookies crumbled on top. But lately, I've been rocking the Turkey Hill Columbian Coffee. If you are a fan of coffee, check it out.

    1. I'm not a coffee person, but my husband is. I'll think I'll get some of the Turkey Hill Coffee as a surprise for him. Thanks for the tip.

    2. I'm not sure I've ever heard of that brand before but it sounds really yummy. We have a flavor from a local ice cream manufacturer called caramel coffee chip which I really like.

    3. Add caramel to anything and it's got to be good.

  3. I LOVE ice cream! My favorite is Blue Bell vanilla bean, but there are so many other good flavors.

    1. I remember Blue Bell from when I lived in TX. It was very good ice cream. Have you ever toured the Blue Bell plant? That was very interesting.

  4. What a classic kid comment! Thanks for the laugh!

I'm a seasonal ice cream eater. It doesn't really appeal to me during cold weather but I enjoy it in the summer. I did pick up chocolate mint ice cream at Aldi while shopping today--my daughter loves that flavor and my son hates it, so I'm trying to get in foods that she likes (but he doesn't) before he returns home from college in May.

    1. I like chocolate chip mint, too. I haven't tried Aldi's ice cream in a few years, but I didn't think it was very good then. What do you think of it now?

    2. I'm not an ice cream connoisseur but I bought their butter pecan awhile ago and I thought it was decent. I haven't tried the chocolate mint flavor yet. The price was right ($1.99/half gallon) so I thought it was worth a try.

    3. Maybe I should give it a try again sometime because the price is certainly worth it.

  5. I love ice cream and have no willpower, whatsoever, when it comes to ice cream! French vanilla is a favorite and so is Butter Pecan! When I was growing up, there was a vanilla ice cream with cashews in it; these days, I almost always add some cashews to vanilla ice cream, and, sometimes, some crystalized ginger!

    1. Oh, cashews in vanilla ice cream sounds so good. I'd rather have those sprinkled on top of my sundae instead of peanuts.

  6. I like ice cream but only in the hot summer months. Otherwise it makes me cold lol if I eat it in winter. I find chocolate to resist, that is why I can't buy it unless I plan to say in all in one day.

    1. I don't like being cold at all, but some how I can stand it if ice cream is involved. :)

  7. I like ice cream perfectly well, but it is not a trigger food for me. Cookies are another matter entirely

    1. Cookies are definitely my favorite baked food and I indulge in them more often than ice cream.
