Happy Mother's Day!
I come from a long line of mothers.
My mother, Betty, and me. I was about three and she was pregnant with my sister, her fourth child. I didn't have a care in the world, but she looks very tired. I think she was. |
My mother with my grandmother, Donnie. My grandmother was very proud since my mother was the first in her family to graduate high school. |
My paternal grandmother, Yula, with 17 grandkids. There were 6 more to come. |
My great grandmother, Anna Estella, on my maternal grandmother's side. In other words, this is the mother of the person above. |
This is my paternal great grandmother, Lavenia Jane In other words, this is my paternal grandfather's mother. |
This is my great, great grandmother, Anna Elizabeth, mother of Anna Estella. |
There. Do you have all of that straight? Don't worry. I'm not sure if I got it all correct myself. What I do know is that each generation along the way has made me who I am and for that I am thankful.
So as you remember those who came before you, Happy Mother's Day!
Love the pictures and history. Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to you. I know this is a hard one since you mother just passed away not that long ago. Hope you are having happy memories.
DeleteWhat great photos, thanks for sharing them with us. Have a very happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martha. I am lucky to have them. Most of these are on my father's side of the family. My mother's side didn't have too many pictures.
DeleteHope you had a Happy Mother's Day, too!
No I don't have it straight but you have a lot of mothers standing with you in your history.
ReplyDeleteThat's a few of them. It's possible that I have pictures of a great grandmother on my mother's side among all of the unlabeled pictures I have, but I'll never know.
DeleteHappy Mother's Day to you, too! What a lovely group of mothers you come from! I only knew my mother's mother and I've no photos of any of the grandmothers.
ReplyDeleteI knew both of my grandmothers and I have a vague memory of meeting a great grandmother once. Today, I think more kids are meeting great grandmothers as people live longer. And there are definitely more pictures.
DeleteI love this post. I only met one of my great grandmothers and great grandfathers. Now my sister's MIL is a great-great grandmother. That was totally unheard of when I was growing up, but seems to happen more and more often now.
