I wouldn't say that it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here, but it is beginning to look a little like it. We have a few presents stashed away, all of cards in the mail, and a couple of strands of lights on the outside of our house. Every day, we do something else. Yesterday we cleared a spot for the tree and today we took some pictures for a gift. So far, the goal for a calm holiday season is working. I hope that continues and it is not because it's just too early to panic. I guess we'll figure that out in a week or two. But until then, we're going with slow and steady wins the race.
Here's a few of our Christmas preparations so far.

Lights in front of the house. We've also added lights to our deck in the back. Those are the lights we enjoy while we're in our family room. |
|
The wreath on the outside of the front door is one of those ones with battery powered lights. While it is very pretty, I may see if I can put more lights on it, so it can be seen better at night. And if I don't get to it, as I said, it is very pretty as is. |

This is the wreath on the inside of the front door. This was a door prize I won several years ago at a bow tying workshop at the library. |

Preview of one of the new ornaments for our tree. My aunt made this and gave it out at my family reunion. It's a little mail box complete with flag and two letters and a package that go inside. How cute is that? |
Until next time when it will be looking a little more like Christmas...
Looks great! My hubby isn't into decorating for Christmas, so our outdoor lights are minimal (2 trees by our front door and an arch of lights and greenery over the overhang). I finally had a chance to get our indoor decorations up on Thursday, and we decorated the tree last night. We have been cram-jammed full with activities the past few weeks and I'm finding it hard to keep up. But it's all good stuff, so I can't really complain.
ReplyDeleteI think the front would look better with a few more lights, but we used what we had from the other house. I'm not sure if we'll get around to buying and putting up any more. In the meantime, we have lights to greet us when we come home and lights twinkling outside our windows in the back.
DeleteWith two kids the ages of yours, I can only imagine how busy things have been and then throw in the holidays and you've got a full schedule.
Did you get much snow? We're supposed to get around 3" tomorrow. Our first snow of the season.
We got around 3 inches Wed/Thurs. I'm not sure how much we got last night--4 or 5 inches? It's still coming down. Hubby is roof raking and son is shoveling. We are supposed to drive 1 1/2 hours to a family Christmas celebration this afternoon so hopefully the snow will slow down and the plows will be out.
DeleteLast night my son played in a jazz band at an outdoor celebration. I wasn't excited about going (cold!) but it was fun when we got there and I saw a few friends and caught up with them. There was free hot chocolate and bonfires to warm us up.
We had about 3 inches last time I looked, but not much more is expected. It wasn't enough to impact roads much, so we were able to visit my father-in-law (also 1 1/2 hours away) today and help him put up his Christmas decorations.
DeleteYour son's band concert sounds fun. Although I wouldn't have been excited about going out in the cold either.
It looks very pretty, already, with the lights and wreaths. Look forward to seeing more, next time.
ReplyDeleteA lot or a little, white or colored, I always think lights are pretty.
DeleteWow...love the lights. Wreath is beautiful. Such cute preview of ornaments. I have an unfounded paranoia about putting lights outside. Nice home!
ReplyDeleteI think lights are pretty no matter where you put them.
DeleteI do too..some are on my tree :).
