Good Morning

The dawn is breaking. It's early morn. I say good morning to Ward, then quietly get up so he can go back to sleep. Downstairs the cats are howling loudly to get feed and be released from the basement where they are banished at night. I feed the cats and then go to check my email and blog. The cats soon join me to see what views the morning has to offer. The birds and the squirrels do not disappoint.

What to do next? The day is full of limitless possibilities but must be considered carefully because the afternoon is going to be sweltering. Definitely time for indoor activities once the sun is high in the sky. The chores for the day seem unappealing. Clean the kitchen that was left in a mess after last night's dinner when we picked blueberries instead of washing dishes. Wash some clothes from the pile in our bedroom. Paperwork is also calling. I've tried to muffle its calls by piling more on top of it, but it's not working. I'm also thinking that I'd like to go on the county's farm tour this afternoon if I can figure out how to beat the heat.

Where to start? I think I'll take a walk and think about that as I see how the rest of neighborhood is waking up. See you later.

How did you start your day?

  1. I like reading how your day started and your train of thought, and I looove the picture of the cats looking at the backyard. It reminds me of mine. There's just something about plump cats' behinds! They look so fuzzy and nice but you know they're coiled killing machines too (well, or would be if they knew what to do once outdoors, I'm now talking about mine).

As for me, I tossed and turned all night, it seemed, and couldn't get comfortable. I had asked Greg not to use the bathroom upstairs since the toilet is giving us trouble right now, but he did anyway, which woke me up and annoyed me. I tried to go back to sleep, tossing and turning some more and then later on I heard New Kitty meowing downstairs because she heard him get up and she wanted to be fed. When I got up I was very cranky. Greg was coming up the stairs and asked me what was wrong and I growled "nothing!" so then he gave me a cuddle and rubbed my back and asked if I was angry because he used the bathroom and I said yes. lol. Then he laughed (the jerk!) but I felt better. I am a 3 year-old in a 48 year-old's body :) He had slept through the time when he thought he would go fishing so he decided to go mow the backyard instead before it gets too hot.

There is no rain in our forecast and it will be hot here too (Florida) so we will limit our outdoor activities. I will need to go water our potted plants and I'd like to grill burgers outside tonight but otherwise I will spend the day indoors. There are chores to be done but they will wait. I do want to get my tomato and pepper seeds started for the "winter" season so I will do that. Otherwise, I have many library books to read. I shouldn't heat up the house but I did want to bake a strawberry summer cake. As a matter of fact, I'm going to put down the laptop and go baked it now.

Have a great weekend. Stay cool.

    1. I toss and turn a lot more than my husbands does. I wonder if it is gender related? We have no rain in the forecast and we desperately need it (well, not California desperate, but for around here). Instead of sitting at the computer, I need to water all of the drooping plants. Enjoy your books and keep cool.

  2. That reminds me of the Cat Stevens song, Morning has broken..... I love that song and the way he sang it. I love your description of the morning and its possibilities. Each new day is like being born, in a way.

    1. I love Cat Stevens' version of "Morning Has Broken", too. Well, I love just about anything Cat Stevens (Yusef Islam) has ever done. But actually the first two sentences are a couple of lines from "Leaving on a Jet Plane" by John Denver and sung by Peter, Paul, and Mary. When it's early in the morning and just becoming light, those are the lines I always sing.

  3. Good Morning, although I am a day late. I woke up with Hubby looking at me. We talked about our dreams then we got up. I took my meds and threw in my stew meat in the pot to cook for a stew (after slicing my finger chopping the meat and waiting seemingly forever for the bleeding to stop.) I ate 1/2 of Hubby's banana and just plopped by butt in the chair checking my email and there your blog post was. I love your post..such great photos and happy content.

    1. When you and hubby were talking about your dreams, were they your sleep dreams or dreams for your life?

I recently cut my finger while cutting up some food and it bled for hours--not enough to be concerned about, but just enough to make a mess. That time, is was more like slicing off some skin than going deep. What kind of cut did you get? Hope your finger is better now.

Have a great day, and stay cool.
