I am thankful for safe havens.
My Facebook page has been filled with pictures from friends with washed out roads and washed away houses. One friend was desperate to get to his injured mother who had to wait all night in an ambulance because of flooded and washed out roads. Another was praying for the survival of a friend who was washed down a storm drain. It has been difficult to see the devastation to areas that are so familiar to me.
However, amongst all of the chaos, I am thankful that my mother has been in safe haven. The facility where she lives is on top of a hill and remains high and dry. Also, staff have been able to make it to work to help with those who need daily care. So while I am praying for all who suffer from these devastating floods, I am thankful that my mother is in safe haven.
Oh my goodness, I've seen the reports of flooding on the news, but didn't realize it was in your area. Sending best wishes to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteWhile there is plenty of flooding in my hometown, some of the most severe flooding happened about 30 miles away. It's a mess, but WV people are very resilient and they will come out the other side okay.
DeleteI didn't realize that so many counties had been affected. How awful for the friend who lost someone to a storm drain. I'm glad that your mom is safe and sound and sad for those who have lost so much.
ReplyDeleteThe flooding was pretty wide spread, but I'm glad that my mom is safe especially since I'm not there to help her.
DeleteIt takes so little sometimes for us to figure out how many things we have to be thankful for! Glad your mother is dry!
ReplyDeleteThere's been a lot going recently that has had me thinking a lot about how much I have to be thankful for.
DeleteI have been out of the 'news' loop, and had no idea there was so much devastation. I'm glad your Mom is safe!
ReplyDeleteI purposely take myself out of the news loop sometimes for survival. I understand how you might not know about this.
DeleteWe've been watching the news and we've had similar in New Orleans, about 2 hours from where I live. Isn't it weird, there is fire one side of the country and flooding in the other? I am so glad your mom is safe. My prayers and thoughts are with everyone in devastating weather conditions.
ReplyDeleteI remember the flooding in New Orleans all too well. Nature is a powerful force.
DeleteJune - I hope all your affected friends and relatives are able to recover as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteThey will recover one way or another as everyone does from disasters.
DeleteI knew you were from WV but didn't make the connection that that was where your mom still is. I bet you had some harrowing hours, worrying! So sorry for all the devastation.
ReplyDeleteMy mom still lives in the town I grew up in and only 45 miles from where she was born. Most of my relatives still live in West Virginia so I have a pretty strong connection.
DeleteI am thankful for you, that your mom is somewhere someone can be looking after her.
ReplyDeleteYou know, it was hard for her to leave her home, but I am thankful everyday that she is in a good place receiving good care.
