Lucy as a kitten. (Not related to anything in the post. Just like the pic.) |
So what have I been doing? First, there's my regular routine of checking my email and dealing with whatever business comes up. This may be something with my mother, a bill, or other family concerns. I've also been working on a couple of newsletters that have been plaguing me. Paragraphs have been written and erased, written and erased, written and erased. Finally, they were written and declared done because I ran out of time. Throw in a little blog reading and Facebook checking and it adds up to too much time on the computer--that indeterminate amount of time that just feels like too much. But now that the newsletters are done, I have a little more time open for other pursuits like my blog.
But a little more time is the key word and I've run out of it for the day. It's time for me to move on so I can fix supper. Yes, that's right. I said fix supper which is going to involve cooking. On the menu is leftover homemade chicken pot pie from last night, a green salad with lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, and pears along with roasted cauliflower. And for dessert--brownies.
So see you next time. Do you ever feel like you spend too much time on the computer?
You mean, does my psyche ever get hopelessly sucked into that little box that sits on my desk? Why yes! Seriously, it's amazing how time can evaporate in front of the computer screen. Congrats on knowing when to say enough is enough! :-)
ReplyDeletep.s. LOVE the photo of Lucy as a kitten!
I always know when enough is enough. Now if I could always walk away when I know enough is enough. That's the hard part.
DeleteWell said, both of you! The funny thing is ... I think I'm on the low end of computer/internet usage when compared with others! I'm not on Facebook, but I do tend to get sucked into, um, reading blogs .... maybe it's good for me when my blog-friends take a break from blogging ... although I miss reading their thoughts!
DeleteI only post about once a year on FB and just do a quick scan to keep up with important friends/extended family news. So compared to what I hear, I don't spend much time on there. I too think overall, my computer time is on the low end of things because I don't have a smart phone yet. I think it will be a real struggle to limit things when I have the internet always at my fingertips.
DeleteYour dinner sounds delicious. I've got soup on the stove now, with beets, onions, sweet potato and lentils. (left over vegetables) I too have had trouble, feeling addicted to the internet and facebook, and not feeling good about it, so am really trying to limit time online.
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting combination of ingredients for your soup. However, soups have a way of blending things so they always taste good. And for sure, that soup will be good for you.
DeleteI have been having the opposite problem, I don't want to turn on the computer. I have been spending less and less time online. I wonder if that's my unconscious telling me I've reached my limit.
ReplyDeleteAs for dinner, I have the slow cooker on with a Cabbage and White bean soup with carrots, potatoes and onions. It's rare when I have anything other than soup from now until spring.
My husband and I share a computer so it is almost always on and it is in a very convenient place which makes it very easy to use,
DeleteLois, I think you may be filled with house projects and grandkid visits which doesn't leave much computer time. I know if we had small kids around that would cut way back on our computer use. Too many other hands on activities to explore and do as you well know.
My neck lets me know when I've been on the computer too long, Ouchie!
ReplyDeleteYeah, sitting to long in one position is not good. Sometimes, I set a timer and spend 15 minutes on the computer then 15 minutes doing something active. That helps motivate me when I really don't want to get up.
DeleteYes I do feel like I do, but I am a nerdy information junkie and you never know when you need to know everything you can find about The Punic Wars. Once I start clicking on links its all over.
ReplyDeleteThe computer is handy to look things up, isn't it? Everything you read on the internet may not be true, but it sure is interesting. Now I know a lot more about the Punic Wars, too. However, that wasn't hard since I didn't know anything about them in the first place.
