Velleity
Velleity---a noun that means to have a wish or desire to do something, but you are not interested in it enough to act on it.
--My desire to revamp the look of my blog was more of a velleity than a real plan.
--Velleity is what keeps me from cleaning up the pile on the bed in the guest room.
Can you think of a way that you could use velleity in a sentence?

But wait, there's more.
That's an interesting word! My brain is dead right now but maybe i'll come up with a sentence later lol
ReplyDeleteI'm having a lot of those brain dead moments recently. It is a great word. So many situations that it applies to--in my life any way.
DeleteHow do you pronounce "velleity"?
ReplyDeleteVelleity is a convenient excuse for me to avoid deep cleaning my bedroom.
Did you try the link at the bottom of the post? It takes you to a place that actually says the word for you. Let me know if it doesn't work.
DeleteInteresting word, new to me too. Let's see. Velleity is an easy excuse to put off a needlework project that became a bit too much.
ReplyDeleteI usually do needlework projects in the winter when it's too cold to go outside. If I were you, that needlework project would be laying idle for another few months now that spring is here
DeleteI should have made great strides learning to yodel, but talent and velleity get in my way every time. Drats! I guess I can donate my lederhosen to Goodwill
ReplyDeleteDid you really seriously try to learn how to yodel? More than just playing around like I have? That sounds like a lot of fun.
DeleteMy mother-in-law could yodel and the closest I came to learning was trying a couple of times with her.
