I am thankful for orchids.
Yesterday, Ward and I visited a greenhouse that was full of orchids. Not only did we appreciate their beauty, we were thankful for the memories they brought of Ward's mother. She grew up in Central America where orchids were native, and she always had a special fondness for them.
Those ARE beautiful - what variety!
ReplyDeleteThere were many more kinds than are shown in the picture. It was a feast for the eyes.
DeleteThose are pretty. I don't know much about orchids. I have one in the kitchen that looks like the photo at 3 o'clock on your montage and you've reminded me that I am meaning to research orchid food recipes for it to see if I can coax it into flowering this year.
ReplyDeleteI had one like that, but I killed it. I really should have learned more of how to care for it besides the little tag that came with the plant. Of course, the cats chewed a few leaves, but I can't blame them for the final demise.
DeleteSo pretty! What a nice spring activity. I am hoping to take my children to an indoor garden over spring break--every year they hatch butterflies in their tropics room and it's a really neat experience.
ReplyDeleteThere were other gardens there, but not much to see as far as flowering things go--just an occasional crocus, snowdrop, or daffodil, so these were really a treat. The butterfly activity sounds like a lot of fun.
DeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThey're lovely :) My mum is a big fan of orchids and has some in her garden, but they're not as colourful as these ones!
ReplyDeleteHere, generally we can't grow them outside because it's gets too cold.
