Most of my Second Look was done at 5 o'clock in the evening when the sun was starting to set. That made it hard to see much. However, my camera did a pretty good job capturing what light there was--meaning the pictures make it seem lighter out than it really was. However, the operator of the camera didn't do a very good job of holding the camera steady in the low light--meaning many of the pictures turned out blurry. I've got to work on that.
Here's what I saw this week during a Second Look.
|
The sun was going down as well as the temperature when I was out. I'm not sure what the temperature was, but it felt cold to me. |
|
There are still occasional maple trees that haven't lost their leaves yet. |
|
This is the "artsy" picture I took of the above maple trees when I wasn't holding the camera still enough. |
|
The wind had blown the top off one of our bird boxes and I got a chance to peer in. Last summer, a sparrow laid four eggs in here, however only one of them hatched. Surprisingly, two of the eggs are still intact. |
|
Even though I couldn't see much, I still got the pleasure of crunching through the leaves. |
|
There aren't as many blooms as last week, but the pansies are still providing color in the front flower beds. |
|
Another "artsy" picture of browning mums. It was pretty much dark by the time I got to this part of the yard. |
|
One afternoon earlier in the week, these three deer were relaxing in the yard. |
I love the deer, they're so exotic to me (unlike kangaroos). We are well and truly into summer here and I'm loving it!
ReplyDeleteIn all of your spare time (ha, ha) or maybe sometime when you're out in the field, take some pictures of kangaroos to share. Now that's exotic. :)
DeleteI love the bird egg pictures!
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to see something associated with warmer weather like the eggs when it's cold out and there's frost on the ground.
DeleteCrunchy leaves and cool weather = Fall :-). Love the deer picture.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time the deer are just passing through or are munching some of our plants. However, sometimes they do lay down and just relax. I'm not sure if I like it or not that they are that comfortable in our yard.

ReplyDeleteThe deer found a good neighbor in you. Hopefully, they return the favor. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe'll see. I've offered them deals before about which beds they could eat it and which ones they couldn't, but they just ignored me.
DeleteI love the deer too. Ours have been coming closer and closer to the apartments now that we aren't spending much time in the field. You have so much more still struggling to remain in bloom than we do. Mums are the only flowers still showing some signs of life here.
ReplyDeleteI live a little further south than you do, so things are warmer here. However, struggling to stay in bloom is a good way to describe the flowers now.
DeleteSome really beautiful pictures! I wish I were better with a camera.
ReplyDeleteI think most of us wish we were better with a camera.
DeleteFor whatever it's worth, there are picture-taking tips on handmadeisbetterblog.com--I, too, would like to take better pictures, and this blogger had pointers for point-and-shoot cameras (like mine!) as well as SLR. She makes technical info seem not-so-technical, which I appreciate! If it sounds hard, I won't bother trying to learn. :)
DeleteI just did a brief look around handmadeisbetter.com and saw some photo exercises that I think I'll try. Thanks for sending me to her blog.
DeleteGorgeous! I love this lonely pansy - it's like giving you hope that this (winter) too will pass. Most of my flowers are gone for the season - other than roses :) I'm amazed they are still alive!
ReplyDeleteI love the pansy also, but it is not as amazing as your roses.
