Here's what we saw this week during our Second Look.
Crocus pushing up through the mulch. |
It was snowing very large flakes this morning. |
This was the only feather in the area. |
Sometimes when a lot of crows fly in, I feel like I'm in the movie, The Birds. |
Fungus on a rotting tree stump |
Something rooted up this clump of moss. |
Theo's ball |
I think this bone was part of a bird. |
Great pictures as always. Our field looks like your shot of the crows, only multiply that a few times. It really is amazing to see how many we have early in the morning picking through the grass for food.
ReplyDeleteThat was about half as many crows as there were there that morning. Although they aren't little and dainty like the song birds, I like watching crows all the same.

ReplyDeleteThe crocus coming up are promising, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteYou do find a lot of bones on your property. We've only found bones a couple of times here.
We do find occasional bones, but it seems like we've found more this winter. However, several of the ones we found recently, I think, may be from the same bird.
DeleteThe snow looks pretty but I'm not sure I would like the cold! The bone looks like the sternum or breastbone of a bird.
ReplyDeleteI think you're probably right about the breastbone. I'm starting to collect the bones to see if I can put some semblance of a skeleton together. I only wish I had picked up the bird's skull when I found it a month ago. Now, it's nowhere to be found.
