Brighton Dam Azalea Garden

Ward and I spent a pleasant afternoon visiting the Brighton Dam Azalea Garden yesterday. We discovered the dam and gardens last fall and hoped that we would remember them this spring when the azaleas were in bloom. So as I was thinking that we needed to do some weeding around our azaleas, I remembered the garden.  We hopped into the car and off we went.

The garden has over five acres of azaleas and trees that have nice walking trails and benches among them. About 2/3 of the bushes were in bloom giving a beautiful show. If we can work it into our schedule, I'd like to go back next week when the garden should be at its peak.

As for the weeds around our azaleas? I kind of like the natural look I saw at the gardens yesterday. Maybe I'll leave the weeds alone and see if I can get the same "natural" effect here.  : )

    1. Yes, we did. We were commenting on that last night.

Besides wandering through the azaleas, we also had a good hike in the woods along the water. Worked up enough of a sweat, that it counted for my walk for the day.

    1. It was beautiful and even though there were several people there, we almost felt like we had the place to ourselves.

  5. I really miss seeing Florida azaleas! Thanks for sharing. Here, we've gone from white to green seemingly within 24 hours and our trees are finally starting to bud. I think Spring is here!

    1. I hope spring is finally there for you. Ours was slow to arrive this year and I had a hard time waiting for it. You must have to have a lot of patience where you live.

    1. It was a lovely day. However, we didn't find a sheep skeleton on our walk.

  7. I always wondered what azaleas were! They're gorgeous!

And I'm all for any gardening strategy that allows you to ignore the weeds!

    1. I didn't realize that azaleas did grow everywhere. The biggest problem we have with growing them here is that they are a favorite of the deer.

    2. The fall is colourful, and no hay fever is a bonus, but spring is best. Enjoy!

    3. Unfortunately, there are several things that bloom in the fall that cause allergy problems for my family. But it's all beautiful.
