Thankful Sunday--January 6, 2013

I am thankful for the telephone.

Out of the many ways to communicate these days, the telephone is my favorite. It keeps me in close contact with my extended family when I can't be there in person.

  1. We turned off our land line about 2 years ago because I mostly skype (oovoo) with my family. We both have cell phones right now too (work pays for Hubby's). But I occasionally miss having a regular phone!

    1. Not everyone I talk to can Skype (like my mother), but I can just pick up the phone and call her. I am glad that you get to "see" your far away family through the computer. I'm sure it means a lot to everyone especially when your family gets to see your kids

  2. We also don't have a landline, but I am very grateful for my mobile phone (and email, skype, facebook, basically all methods of communication!).

    1. It's sounds like you fully embrace everything that's available to you to communicate with and keep well in touch with your family and friends.

  3. I agree that the telephone is more direct than anything else and I sometimes forget that. When I'm getting frustrated because someone isn't answering my text messages, my husband has to remind to me that there's always the option to pick up the phone and speak!

    1. Sometimes a text is a quick way to get a message to someone without disturbing things. However, with the phone you get to hear intonation and have a back and forth dialog. A much more personal experience, I think.
