Thankful Sunday, December 16, 2018

I am thankful for my
stainless steel mixing bowls.

We got a set of stainless steel mixing bowls for a wedding gift many years ago. They are still as good as new, and we use them daily. I was thankful when I got them, and I am even more thankful for them now.

Do you have something simple like my mixing bowls that is invaluable to you in the kitchen?

  1. Mixing bowls are wonderful, aren't they? I have an assortment of mixing bowls, including two vintage Pyrex ones that were free to me (both were discarded by others and I picked them up!)

I think I am most thankful for my can opener! Even though some cans come with a pull tab, these days, most cans are impossible to open without a can opener and Dancer would be sad if I can't open his cans of tuna for him!

    1. I find some of those pull tabs hard to open, also. And now that you mention it, the cat food cans are some of the hardest. I've never tried to open one with a can opener. I'll have to try that when I'm struggling the other way.

  2. My niece talked me into purchasing a skinny spoon-style rubber spatula and I absolutely love it. So handy for getting the last little bit out of jars and the spoon shape is easier to use than the traditional style!

    1. I have several spatulas but I reach for my skinny one first. But I don't have one that is spoon shaped. I bet that is handy.

  3. I have a couple of things I can't do without in the kitchen (I got a set of stainless mixing bowls when we got married too) I love and use my pyrex measuring cups all the time. I have a quart size that I make tea in every day, and use the 2 cup measure in the microwave to melt, soften or warm things all the time. And there there are my wooden spoons. Love them!

  4. I have a few items I can't do without -- I too have stainless steel mixing bowls. I also have 3 Pyrex mixing bowls, 4 Pyrex measuring cups and one measuring cup from the 1920s (belonged to my husband's grandmother), a stack of vintage pie plates which I use for more than just pies. My favorite item is a pastry cutter that belonged to my husband's grandmother it is some sort of metal and has a wooden handle. It is in very good condition and is probably from the late 1920s. I have rubber spatulas and wooden spoons that I use a lot too!

    1. Thanks for visiting, Mary. I had an old pastry cutter from my grandmother, but it was not in great condition. It's so nice that you can still use your grandmothr's. It sounds like we all like our Pyrex measuring cups. I have had other's, but don't like them as well.

    1. My crockpot gets a lot of use, also. The one I have is 30 years old and I hope it keeps working for a long time. My sisters have gotten newer ones and they don't heat as evenly.

  6. I am thankful for my gripper because I am always dropping something. Also my scissors with bottle/jar opener. Amazing how simple things you appreciate☺
