Thankful Sunday, January 15, 2017

I am thankful that my house is on the market.

After many arduous months, my old house is finally on the market. Now to find the right buyer for it. It's either right house for someone or it's not, but our work is done. And for that I am very thankful.

  1. What a beautiful family home! Do you have mixed feelings about selling it, or are you ready to move on and make new memories? I think I would have some nostalgic feelings, but on the other hand, it's been so much work for you for so long, maybe the thought of selling is a relief for you.

    1. Most of the time I say, that I have memories, but they're not the physical house, and I'm ready to be rid of it. But as soon as the realtor put the lock box on it, I cried. But I am so ready to have all of our stuff in one place, so we can really start settling in. So like everything else, my emotions are a jumble.

    3. It is a beautiful house. I will say that we worked hard on it. We put in landscaping, a new sidewalk, new shutters, new windows, new roof, and kept the trees trimmed to keep up its looks. I'm kind of sad to see it go, but maybe the next family will have a good time raising their kids there also.

  2. So glad for you it is on the market. Now I have my fingers crossed for a quick sale. I must be one of those weird people who is not attached to any house I have ever lived in. I have great memories and I guess that is all I need. I am guessing I have 2 more moves before I am done, but if I never move again that will be ok too.

    1. We had a lot of traffic over the weekend, so we're hoping for the best. Generally, I'm less attached to things than the average person, so I've been surprised when I get a flood of emotions over leaving this house.

  3. Good luck with the sale of the house! If I lived in the area, I'd love to have it. It looks so different from our houses down here.

What a relief it must be for you to be completely out of it and have everything in just one house now, as you said. Now you can step back and let the professionals handle the rest. You're going to feel like you're on vacation! What are you going to do with all this new "free" time?! Maybe start taking lovely pictures of the birds at your feeder again so I can live vicariously through you since no birds have visited me in a long time?!

    1. Well, actually, we still have everything in the old house that we used for staging--couches, chairs, tables, beds, etc. We've pieced things together in the new house so we're living just fine, but it will be nice when it's all together and we can start figuring out how everything fits.

I think I'm going to miss the yard and critters the most at the old house. We have a bird feeder up here, but the sun is so bright in the back where it is, I mostly get silhouetted pictures. Even though this yard is a little more suburban, I'm looking forward to discovering it.

  4. So many mixed emotions. Honestly, I only live a few miles from the house I grew up in and sometimes when I'm out running errands I drive by just for old times sake. Hopefully, the house will find new people who will love it just as much as you did.

    1. My mother still owns the house I grew up in and that's where we stay when we go to visit her. That's going to be hard when that part of my life is sold.

  7. What a lovely home, I'm sure there are memories from that house you will miss for a long time but I'm happy for you all the staging is completed. Good luck on a fast sale.

    1. It's time to move on, but I will miss a lot about this house--mostly the yard. However, I will follow your example of when you left your little cove and moved into your present house. I will work hard to make it mine.

  8. I know that there is a family, out there, who will love and cherish the place you called home all of those years. As you said, you carry the memories with you. You can never sell the memories. Wishing you the best of luck with selling.
