Harvest

Stir fry tonight.

(Thanks, Uncle Billy, for sharing your harvest.)

  1. What a beautiful picture of a summer harvest. Uncle Billy is so generous with his produce. We are enjoying our garden food, too, but it seems to come in spurts--we ate lots and lots of lettuce for awhile, then we moved on to green beans with occasional cucumbers, and now we are starting to get zucchini, peppers, and tomatoes. Your basket has many of those all at once!

    1. Uncle Billy is interesting. He likes to garden, but doesn't like many vegetables himself. Aunt Martha eats and freezes some, but they share the rest with many different people. We are lucky to be one of them. BTW, you are seeing the end of some things ripening and the beginning of others in this picture.

    1. Yes, he is. One of the best things he did is to build a big fence to keep the deer out.

  3. Beautiful (and free!) vegetables. I also enjoy watching vegetables grow in my garden but, even though I do love vegetables, I have a hard time cooking them. I stick "a lot" of them in the freezer but then forget to use them. I say "a lot" because my harvests aren't usually very plentiful, but still too much for me to manage to cook before they spoil. The neighbors that we do talk to all have their own much more plentiful gardens, so I really don't have anyone to donate my meager harvests to! I might need to branch out into growing flowers instead, it might be less stressful since no harvesting, preserving or cooking is involved.

    1. Flowers might be more enjoyable. In the meantime, some food banks are happy to get vegetables. Or maybe your son could take them to the library when he goes. I'm sure the staff would be happy to get them. Or at our church, every summer someone puts veggies outside the door on Sundays with the free sign. They veggies are always gone quickly.

      Good luck.
