I is for "I Must Remember"

I is for
I Must Remember
by Shel Silverstein*

I must remember...
Turkey on Thanksgiving,
Pudding on Christmas,
Eggs on Easter,
Chicken on Sunday,
Fish on Friday,
Leftovers on Monday,
But ah, me--I'm such a dunce.
I went and ate them all at once.

Do you ever have one of those days when you eat more than you should because it all tastes good? I had one of those days yesterday when we took my son out for his birthday. Thank goodness for the weekends when I can wear sweat pants with an elastic top. :)

*This poem was originally in Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein and part of my tribute to National Poetry Month this month.

  1. Yikes, yes! I have had days like that where nothing seemed to satisfy my cravings and then I feel fat, fat, fat for having over indulged. I get SO mad at myself and swear that will never happen again until the next time. lol

    1. Yeah, until the next time which is usually when there's some cookies around.

  2. I've had those days too, and pay for them when I give in and indulge. :-(

I have been offline most of the last few weeks so I have a lot of catching up to do and just realized you are doing the A-Z challenge. This is the first one I've read but starting with Shel Silverstein (my favorite childrens poet!) I think I'm going to enjoy reading your series.

    1. My series is pretty much like my regular blog, just posting every day. I think you remember, it can be a challenge. However, so far, I've been able to keep up.

  3. My daughter just discovered Shel Silverstein. :)

I also relate to this poem. Sometimes the food just calls out to me.

    1. Shel Silverstein is wonderful. Very witty and often touching. Your daughter is going to have a lot of fun reading his works.

    1. I had nachos, spaghetti, and batter dipped french fries. The servings were large and we shared.

    1. Yeah, I think this is something we can all relate to at one time or another.

  6. Haha - yes, I have those days! I always have wine and microwave popcorn in my house and those two things don't go together at all. But I love them both so much and have a terrible time deciding. The few times I cave in and have them both, I'm never happy because they really don't go together.
