G is for Got It

G is for Got It--Blogging Fatigue, that is.

I made it almost a week with the A-Z Challenge before the blogging fatigue set in. Or maybe, I'm just tired today. Some days are like that especially if the night before has been a toss and turn night. So as I thought about what to write for the letter G, I couldn't come up with anything that seemed easy enough to pull off right now. Did I mention I was tired?

As I was doing some chores around the house, here are thoughts I had.
Garden Flamingo

Golden Delicious Apples--these were developed in WV in the county next to where I grew up.

Golden Horseshoe--Speaking of West Virginia, the Golden Horseshoe is awarded to 8th graders in WV who are highly knowledgeable about their state. It was a big deal in my family.

Gum--I like to chew it. Couldn't chew it as a kid. Made it once not very successfully. Liked teaberry flavor and I have a teaberry plant.

Grade school vs. primary school vs. elementary school Are there really any differences?

Green advertising--what a gimmick

Gluten fad--speaking of gimmicky advertising.

Googling--how many times a day do you look something up with Google.

Then I looked through a few of my pictures, and considered these.

Gaillardia or Blanket Flowers

Gripping roots

Girl Cat, Annie

As you can see, I was kind of stretching it by the time I got to my pictures.

None of these ideas are going to happen right now. Maybe another day. Time to move forward to the letter H. Or maybe time to relax and get a better night's sleep tonight.

  1. J here, stopping by from the #atozchallenge - where I am part of Arlee Bird's A to Z Ambassador Team.
How has the first week of the challenge been for you so far? Are you meeting your goals of posting and hopping to other blogs?
My blog has a giveaway with bonus a to z challenges to encourage people to visit more stops.

I also enjoy chewing gum from time to time.
One post at a time. You can do it!

    1. Thanks for stopping by J and especially thanks for being one of the sponsors to make this challenge possible. So far, I've posted every day and doing pretty well in visiting other blogs. But sometimes, I run out of time. Now I'm curious what your bonus is. Gonna go see right now.

  2. Sorry about your tossing/turning night! I'm grouchy today--there's a "G" theme for you! I was driving in to work and I was notified on my cell phone while driving that they didn't need me. Grrr. (see? More G's ... )

I like Golden Delicious apples. And teaberry gum. I agree, the differences between grade school versus the others mentioned is negligible at best. The gluten fad makes me crazy--I have friends who use a gluten-free diet for celiac disease and it's a necessary and helpful health accommodation, but using it as a weight loss technique concerns me, as there are many health benefits to whole foods containing gluten. I'm assuming that your objection to green advertising is that the products may not be as "green" as the companies portray them to be? And yes, I think I've used Google about 5 times already today.

    1. Grouchy--good one. I should start making a list for next time. And you have good reason to be grouchy. I hope you were able to recover and can make the most of your unexpected time off.

I have the same concerns about gluten diets as you do. In fact, it drives me crazy when someone tells me all grains are bad. There are definitely people who have disease or allergies or sensitivities that need to avoid one food or another, but I'm not sure there are entire food groups that are bad for everyone. But there are plenty of pseudo/half science books out there that say various things like that. And people go with what makes sense to them instead of truly understanding the data which has often been picked to make whatever point the author wants. I blame the media and advertising for perpetuating a lot of this. Okay, I will stop ranting. R is for Rant. Hmmm. This may come up again.

    2. I LOVE R for Rant!!!!!!!!!! And yes, you said exactly what I think about the gluten misinformation. I think many people want to find a magic bullet for health/weight loss instead of using what we know works--eat healthy foods (healthy according to a registered dietician, that is) and getting more exercise. Boring, and a lot of work, and there are people out there with metabolism issues which complicates things, but ... for the majority of us, that's the key. Oh wait, we are several days away from Rant. Sorry, got ahead of myself.

    3. The problem is when you question the popular food beliefs, you offend some who are swearing by them. My general theory on this, if you start paying attention to your diet, with whatever gimmick you want, you're probably eating better than before and will have some positive results. (This of course excludes really extreme things.) The problem is that many of these things are not the best thing in the long run and there's more than one way to do things.

    1. You already post on most days, so I know you can do it. Even if you just went through the names of all of your cats, I think you would have most of the letters covered.

    1. One time Theo had an assignment in school to journal every day with just stream of consciousness. It was pretty interesting to say the least.

  6. Gee! The posting daily would be a deal breaker for me. I tend to rebel most of the time so it would not be a good fit for me, but I really enjoy reading your Posts!

    1. Gee! Great comment. This is one of those things I am determined to do because I signed up. But then again, I also try to convince myself that's okay if I miss some days. There will be no harm done.

  7. This is sooo much better than anything I could come up with on a day of blogging fatigue. :-) That's pretty much why I didn't sign on this year to do the challenge. By the end of the alphabet I was exhausted and felt too constrained after the first few days.

    1. This is going a little better than last time. I think the key for me is to have no more of a theme than a letter of the alphabet. Of course, that is a hindrance too if the letter doesn't correspond with what I want to talk about.
