Who Am I? Four things

Occasionally, one of those Who am I?  sets of questions makes the rounds in the blog world and yesterday, Anne at New Happenings at the Table  answered a set on her blog. She linked back to Slug Mama for the questions and encouraged others to answer them also. So for lack of something better to do (or should I say, for the lack of motivation to get up and clean the kitchen), I thought I'd take a stab at them. If you ask me these same questions tomorrow, my answers may change, but that's what makes life interesting (or confusing).

Four names I go by: Live and Learn, June, Mrs. Cleaver, and Hey You.

Four tunes I adore: Black Water by the Doobie Brothers, The Horse in Striped Pajamas by Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Green Jeans,  Dear Abby by John Prine, and Spider's Web by Folktale.

Four things I hate: liver, assuming the worst, mouse droppings in the house, and being cold.

Four places I have worked: sheriff's office, preschool, oil company, science teacher

Four things I love to watch: birds, toddlers misbehaving who aren't mine, Andy Griffith reruns, cats playing

Four places I have visited: Japan, Brussels, Guatemala, Canada  I consider that pretty good for someone who had only been in 3 states (including the one I lived in) and never on an airplane until I graduated college.

Four Things I love to eat: Chocolate, Utz potato chips, creamed chicken on mashed potatoes, and soft peppermints.

Four favorite drinks: iced tea, water, weak lemonade, water

Four favorite shows: Big Bang, I Love Lucy, Dancing with the Stars (yes, my dirty little secret), and the Drew Carey Show (I just recently found reruns of it. It is just plain silly.)

Four favorite plays: The Sound of Music, the King and I, Your a Good Man Charlie Brown (I was Snoopy in this in high school), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (I was Domina in this in college.)

Four things I am happily anticipating:  spring flowers, a get together with old friends, seeing my husband tonight after work, and finishing the book I'm reading.

Four things I am dreading: each party's nomination for the presidential election, political ads, more campaign name calling, deciding who to vote for in November

Four items on my bucket list: more travel to the Rockies, I'm totally blank here, so make a bucket list

Four People I think will respond:  Anyone else who is avoiding a chore

  1. I love the avoiding a chore comment. I am sure I was avoiding doing something when I posted mine but a day has passed and so have my memories of incidentals! Now I am going to add John Prine to my playlist. I forgot how much I like him until you mentioned him. (See what I mean about forgetting incidentals)
Didn't know you were a thespian as well as a musician!

    2. I did a lot in my other life including performing in front of people whenever I got a chance-- whether or not I was any good. Oh, the enthusiasm of youth.

      I also like meatloaf. :)

  2. OK, you had me laughing out loud at your "dread" comments. Today is Michigan's primary. Oh, the political ads and phone calls ...

Is it rude of a non-blogger to answer these in your comments? I hope not!

    1. It's not rude at all, but a welcome addition.

I'm gonna have to check out Mercy Street. I'm not familiar with that, but I do like the British baking show. And as I have mentioned before, I've never seen Downton Abbey, but I think I would like it.

Krissy Poo. Yep, that sounds like something a sibling might call you. Do they still use that name?

    2. I had to scrape for another name that I am called, but yes, they do still occasionally call my Krissy Poo. Part of being the youngest. Years ago, when I was a camp cook, I was called Apple Kris because I loved to make (and eat) apple crisp, especially the topping.

I think you would like Mercy Street, and it should still be available on PBS.org. It takes place in Richmond, VA, during the Civil War--a real crossroads of north and south, slave and free, and the medical care is true to how it really was back then (don't watch if you are squeamish). It was fascinating on a lot of levels for me.

My kids can do a darn good imitation of Paul and Mary (the judges) on the Baking Show. They love to torture me with British-accented descriptions of my baked goods, although my daughter will often tell me the food I make is "simply scrummy".

  3. OK... since I'm always looking for a good opportunity to avoid cleaning the kitchen...

  4. OK... I keep trying to leave a more thoughtful comment here, but I keep being thwarted. So one 35 mile bike ride, one neighbor's dog crisis, and several family phone calls later....

When I read "liver, assuming the worst..." I seriously read it as "assuming the wurst..." yuk, yuk!

And I too laughed out loud about your election dread... since there's not much I can do about it, I'm trying to look on it as a front row seat for a very crazy show, but I honestly don't know whether to laugh or cry at this point. My brother and I were actually speculating that perhaps this year will finally be the breaking point for the two party system with both the major parties looking like they're on the verge of fracture.

Anyhow... thanks for this... it was all much more fun than cleaning the kitchen! :-)

    1. Assuming the wurst. That's funny. I guess it was the mention of liver right before it.

  5. Your food you dislike could easily be mine! And I had to laugh at toddlers who misbehave as long as they aren't yours. Me too :-)

As for the politics. Oh my I am having a very hard time of it this year. I swore I would not vote again in a presidential race and to focus my attention on local government but this year has me downright scared.

    1. I enjoy story time days at the library when we're full of little kids. While the toddlers often have inappropriate behavior for the library, they're just doing what comes naturally for their age. I often smile at their antics.
