Thankful Sunday--September 20, 2015

I am thankful for good caregivers.

This is the attic window of the house I grew up in and
the house where my mother still lives.
For various reasons, my mother doesn't live near any of her children. Since none of us are close by, I am thankful that she has very good caregivers so she can continue to live in her home of 55 years. Her helpers are a blessing to both her and us. And for that I am thankful.

  1. It's so important to have competent, trustworhty, kind caregivers, especially when adult children live far from their parents. I am glad you have found that.

    1. Caregivers come and go, but currently, we have a really good set. They truly have my mother's best interests at heart.

    1. It is a huge blessing. There are plenty of things to worry about and do, but I'm glad one of them is not whether or not that she has capable people to help her get through her day.

  3. Good caregivers are worth their weight in gold. We only had to have help a few weeks with Dad, but it allowed us to enjoy the time with him while having help with some of the more unpleasant tasks. It also gave him the ability to be in his own home through the end, where everything was familiar.
I am glad you have help you and your mom feel comfortable with. It is so important to be able to let our parents maintain life as they knew it, as long as possible.

    1. We have had caregivers in the home for several years now. First to help my mother care for my father and now for my mother. We have had a big variety of good and bad and dealt with a lot of personal issues. However, things are good now. And you are right. They are worth their weight in gold. Now if we can just continue to find that gold to pay them.
