Observations from Everyday Life
Screens are a great invention, aren't they? :) We have had a moderate summer, heat-wise, so I've been able to open the windows a lot. I love the smell of the fresh air in the house. My cat (who is an indoor-only cat) loves the open windows, too.
Screens and netting have done a lot for mankind and disease prevention. I was going to do a post about that, but decided to keep it simple. At the very least, screens make my life a lot more pleasant. All of our cats are indoor cats also. As soon as we open any window, they flock to it immediately. They don't necessarily want to go out, but they do love all of the new smells.
Screens are a delight here also___in spring or fall and sometimes during the winter. That being said I do enjoy a screened in porch. At 6 this morning it was only about 85 and I could sit outside, drink coffee and not worry about mosquitos. WIn!
In our particular area, the mosquitoes usually aren't too bad. But this year is an exception and they are around in abundance. Screened porches are always great, but I really wish that I had one this year. You'll just have to enjoy yours enough for both of us.
Yes, screens! The previous tenant removed one screen in each room to install window a/c units. I didn't realize this until spring finally warmed enough to open windows. My son happened to be here and opened two for me. Unfortunately I didn't pay any attention and he'd opened the one window in each room that didn't have screens. I caught the one in the living room the next day but not the one in my bedroom and couldn't figure out where all the bugs were coming from. I remedied that real quick. :-)
Your house is just full of surprises, isn't it?
