Thankful Sunday--August 9, 2015

I am thankful for the feeling of hunger.

Our bodies are wondrous things. They tell us when we need food and when we don't. And if we listen very carefully, they even tell us what kind of food we need. For that I am thankful. (Now if I would just learn to listen when there are cookies around. :))

  1. All things in moderation, right? What kind of cookies are these? They look tasty.

    1. Moderation is the name of the game as far as I'm concerned. These are pudding cookies with Andes mints. It was inspired by a recipe on a Place to Reside,
      http://aplacetoreside.blogspot.com/2011/11/mini-peanut-butter-cup-pudding.html

I used chocolate pudding instead of vanilla and Andes Mints instead of peanut butter cups. It's very easy and easily adaptable.

    2. This looks similar to cookie pudding recipes I have tried--it makes them so soft! It may be a dangerous suggestion--but averiecooks.com has a ton of delicious cookie recipes (she adds 2 teaspoons of cornstarch to many of her cookie recipes to make them softer--it really works! And she has some pudding-cookie recipes as well). I LOVE cookies. Truly my weakness. I can pass up a lot of things (donuts, cake ... but a good cookie is hard to ignore).

I enjoyed A Place To Reside--I was kinda bummed when Marilyn stopped posting.

    3. I prefer softer cookies. I have never heard of putting corn starch in them, and against my better judgement, I'm going to visit averiecooks.com.

I was bummed when Marilyn stopped posting also.

  2. Ha! Funny how the cookies tend to drown out that voice...

    1. I'm sure that I hear the Food Voice telling me "chocolate ... eat chocolate ... " so it MUST have health benefits. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. (I may possibly need to belong to a cookie addiction recovery group, though!)

    2. Doughnuts I can drown out, but cookies seem to get right in my ear and yell, "Eat me."

  3. I am thankful for the feeling of hunger and am truly hungry right now. I am not thankful I saw those cookies, because now instead of chicken and veggies my eyes are telling me I want cookies, and wouldnt you know my mouth is agreeing with my eyes. My stomach is saying "aw just give me some food, healthy stuff is fine" , but these are powerful forces the gut is dealing with. If I don't eat soon ...

    1. I was really hungry when I got home from work today and I wished I had some cookies. I even did a bit of searching in the pantry in case I forgot some. But alas, my attempt to have less sweet stuff in the house was working. I had an apple and a peanut butter sandwich instead. Filling, but not quite what I was looking for.

    1. I'm still working on figuring out that one. It may take a lot of cookies before I do. :)
