O is for Orange

I Spy Something Orange

Can you find?

--A smiling magnet holding up a "pileated woodpecker"

--An excellent biography about a woman who lives on and on

--The seed we use to feed real pileated woodpeckers and other visitors to our feeders

--Some candy we're saving for National Jelly Bean Day on April 22

--A tea kettle that helps with dry air in the winter

--Wally and Theo's sleds that are now used mostly to carry mulch

--The fringe on a classic flower of spring

--A book about a girl in a singing group with her sisters and who appeared often on the Lawrence Welk Show

--A fruit that would be hard to work into a rhyming poem

    1. Orange was my son'ts favorite color for a long time so he had orange towels and blankets as well as orange shirts. As an adult, I think he's moved on to something else.

  2. I found them all!

I know it sounds silly, but ... my parents always had Lawrence Welk on when I was a kid, and sometimes when I come across reruns, I tune in for a little while for the comforting nostalgia. It's a little cheesy, but it makes me smile.

    1. My grandmother and then my mother always watched Lawrence Welk. The Lennon Sisters were my favorite and apparently they're still performing today.

    1. I didn't think that I had many things around that were orange until I started looking.

I am not an orange person and it is probably because I can wear so few shades of the color. One day I painted our bedroom what I thought was going to be a lovely peach shade. we moved all our furniture back in the room that night, went to sleep in a peach room and woke to the morning sun and a tangerine room. My husband said he felt like he was sleeping in a Florida brothel. I repainted that day. It was either that or charge him to go to sleep every night.

    1. Charging him every night would have been a good way to build up your vacation fund to Florida. :)

    2. I know in the future not to read Anne's comments with a sip of tea in my mouth. I almost had a disaster. Too funny.

Enjoyed the bubble song! My college roommate also grew up with parents who watched a lot of music variety shows--sometimes (when no one was looking, of course) we would burst out in song. "Good night ... sleep tight ... and pleasant dreams to you ..." was a specialty of ours. Don't get me started on my Donny and Marie or Hee Haw lyric recitations ...

  5. I love the color orange. And I love oranges...but they are just not as good as they used to be!

    1. There's a month or two a year when oranges are in season that they are really good. Other times, I think you're right. They're not as good as they used to be.

  6. I think this is your inner Denver Broncos fan looking for a way to express itself. :-)

    1. Or maybe it is my Baltimore Oriole fan coming out. And even though I'm not that much into sports, I know that those teams represent different sports. :)

  7. April 22 is national jelly bean day? Wow, learn something new every day.
I have a nephew who has loved the color orange since he was a toddler. Every year for Christmas I look for either orange fleece to sew him something or an orange cap, socks or some other such thing. It's not an easy color to find clothing in.

    1. National Jelly Bean Day is every year in April, but the date varies. I think they have it after Easter as a way to eat up (or get cheap) jelly beans.
