Broken Scales--Part 2

Broken Scales--Part One --Ward and I have been trying to figure out if out bathroom scale is broken.

The saga continues.

Our Christmas celebrations have been spread out this year and we had our final one last weekend. Even though we still have a few Christmas sweets around, we are trying to move onto more normal eating. In the meantime, Ward and I were curious to see what toll the holiday eating had taken on our weight. We weighed ourselves recently with debatable results.

We were gathered in our bedroom with Wally and Theo coordinating plans for the coming weeks. While he was listening, Wally stepped onto the scale and we heard a loud crack. We all thought that we might see the scale in two pieces because it was that loud. However, there was no visible damage and Wally and Theo both weighed themselves and said it seemed fine. But then Ward and I weighed ourselves and declared that something must have happened with that loud crack because the scale was weighing heavier than we thought it should.

I'm not sure what's going on here, but again I think the scale is broken. And I now have evidence in a loud crack to prove I'm right. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

  2. That's it! I think my scale is broken, too!
Actually, I think I'm retaining "couch", as in, I've been parked on the couch far too long this winter.

    1. I can't remember if you watch much TV, but have you seen the Weight Watchers commercial where the lady is sitting on a couch made of potato chips-- a play on the "couch potato" idea. Unfortunately, I can relate and if the truth be told, I'd like to see a couch like that. I love potato chips.

  3. My clothes seem to have shrunk in the dryer.

  4. Ha! Well, my scale has been behaving positively horribly lately. I'll step on it and the first reading I get will say that I've lost 10 pounds. So I step off and try again just to be sure... and of course, this time it says "just kidding" and puts the weight back up to where it always is. NUTS!

    1. Well, the lesson to be learned from that is to not step on the scale again. :)

  5. I am going to just start yelling "Crack" really loudly whenever I step on the scales and then I will declare them broken. I really like this plan.

    1. You are a brilliant thinker. I think that many appliances seem to be broken. It's the New Year's curse. Scales, dryers ...

    2. I'm gonna have to think about this for a while. I think there may be a lot of things "broken" around here too.

  6. Okay, so I thought our scales must be broken too, as I'm 10 lbs higher than I was before my surgery, and still 3 mos after. Ahem. Drs. office confirmed my weight and scales are completely accurate. Sad day. :(

    1. Your weight must be because of a hormone imbalance from your recent illness. That's what I would go with.
