Thankful Sunday--November 2, 2014

I am thankful for free community events.

The parks and libraries where I live sponsor many free events. One of those was held yesterday at the local library--Train Day. It's an annul event that is eagerly anticipated by both young and old. It features several rooms with model train layouts as well as special music, story times, and lunch. It is fun for one and all and I am thankful that I got to be one of them.

    1. We're lucky that the hobbyist donate their time for the event. It takes them almost a day to set up and a day to take down.

    1. My favorite trains, as well as some of the young kids, are the Lego setups. If I ever decide that I'm going to be a model railroader (or whatever they're called), I want to use Legos.

    1. It would have been a great place for him to see and network with all of the other train people. They were also giving out free railroader magazines and other free train stuff (bandanas and whistles). Also, you mentioned one of the problems, if you want to call it that) with model trains is the amount of space they take up.

  5. I'm not big on trains, interesting but not high on my list of events to attend but I love free community events. the best one I attended this year was a celebration of an independent radio station that thanked it's listeners by hosting a free picnic with live music.

    1. I like model trains more than real trains, but I just like the excitement of the whole thing. I think I would have liked the picnic you went to also. Independent radio stations are few and far between these days so I'm glad they're having some success.
