Thankful Sunday--November 16, 2013

I am thankful for the exhaust fan and light in my shower.

If you have been reading here recently, you know that I am getting new enjoyment from my shower. This reminded me of how much I also appreciated the light and exhaust fan that was installed a couple of years ago. Before that, it was rather dark in the shower, and we had a hard time fighting mold. I am thankful that these are no longer problems today.

  1. Isn't it funny how we take for granted the small things in life? Thanks for the reminder to be grateful for the little things.

    1. Some of those little things don't seem like much until you don't have them. You are probably realizing that with your kitchen work.

  2. I have an exhaust fan in my bedroom that runs constantly. I'm very grateful for it because between the shower in the kitchen and the turtle tank, my house is very prone to mould!

    1. As part of our kitchen work, we got the exhaust fan in the kitchen connected to the outside. Prior to this, it just put everything back into the kitchen after going through a very cheap filter. I'm looking forward to being able to exhaust smells and steam to the outside. It's interesting that your fan is in the bedroom. Maybe that's what you do in a small apartment.

  3. Hmmm, your comments are making me think about our shower exhaust fan. I'm wondering if it doesn't vent to the outside. Even with making sure it gets used with each shower, we have mold issues. Is the light feature on your fan a heat lamp? I've wondered if having a heat lamp/fan would help.

So, nice that your shower is now working well. The little things do make a difference in comfort.

    1. We didn't have a fan at all because we had a window that opened. That's all code required at the time. However, it was too cold to open most of the time, so the moisture built up. In the other bathroom, there was an exhaust fan, but it just vented into the attic. We had that one vented to the outside also, and the mold situation improved.

The light is not a heat lamp, but we had one installed. The bathroom was not warm, so I tended to stay in the warm shower longer than needed. We have a timer on the heat lamp, so we don't usually have it on more than 10 minutes. Just enough to take the chill off the room.

  4. I still dream about the heat lamp that we had in the bathroom of one of our early apartments. :-)

    1. I'm sure you do. You seem to get colder sooner than many others.
