Thankful Sunday--October 21, 2012

I am thankful apples--especially this time of year when they are tree ripened.

Apples from the Shanholtz Orchard in Romney, WV.

  1. Mmm...I am thankful for apples too. I just cut several, tossed them with lemon juice and put them in the fridge. For whatever reason, this makes it more likely that I will eat them.

    1. Ward is more likely to eat them that way also. He doesn't like the texture of biting into a big apple, but cut up ones are okay. I'm not sure that I understand it, but we're all different.

  2. I love when the apples are ready to pick, there are so many things to do with them including eating them just as they are. Ours are out in plenty as well.

    1. Just eating a raw apple is my favorite way to enjoy them. No wait, maybe it's in a pie.

  4. Fresh apples are the best. All I ever had growing up were grocery store apples, and they were so mealy most of the year. Then as an adult we went to an orchard and picked our own and I could not believe the difference in quality, texture, juiciness and flavor!

    1. I had a similar experience with red delicious apples. Wow, they have a pleasant sweet flavor and texture when they are right off the tree. You'd never know that from what you get in the grocery store.
