Sandy

or Anticipation

U.S. Threat Index

Noon, October 29, 2012

The water and food are secured. The generator has been tested and the flashlights have fresh batteries. The lawn chairs have been put away and the firewood is in the garage. The laundry and dishes are washed and we have extra bread and toilet paper. And now we wait.

Even though the rain has started and winds have picked up, they are nothing to write home about. But the "best" is yet to come. Or so they say. I hope "they" are wrong.

    1. Don't worry, I will. Safety is my middle name (much to my kids annoyance when they were growing up.

  2. Good luck to you. Like you the rains have been going all day without let up, and the winds are beginning to howl around the building, but so far nothing serious here.

    1. The winds are howling more and more and getting a little scary. However, the really serious weather is not supposed to be here until the wee hours of the morning. We've had some flickers of electricity, but nothing serious yet. We are lucky that our neighborhood lines are buried underground. However, the main lines coming in aren't.

Good luck. I'll be thinking about you.

  3. Good luck to you! I hope you keep your power, and all goes better than expected. Do you have a way to cook or heat water without power?

    1. We have several options with the best being our propane camp stove.
Thanks for the good wishes. I think we're going to be okay, but we're prepared if there is a problem.
